Now that the rainy season is here (at least in California!), it is time to check those windshield wiper blades.  These always seem to be one thing that I forget about until we get the first rain, and my wipers only “swoosh” away part of the water from the windshield.  I just learned about the new Bosch ICON wiper blades, and I really want to try them. What makes them so great? These bracketless wipers are designed without metal or plastic brackets, joints or hinges, which means they’re an improvement over conventional wiper blades. Interesting!

Bosch is holding a contest where one lucky Facebook fan and a guest will win an experience of a lifetime! You can learn all about the contest and also join Reed Timmer (from Discovery Channel’s Storm Chasers) in a series of webisodes that are being shown on the Bosch Facebook page. Current episodes are “Why I Chase” and “The Dominator”.

We changed wiper blades on one of our cars during the summer but on our other car, well, its seriously in need at this point, one blade has started to fall apart and every time I use them I see a piece of the wiper blade flapping by which is a indication that it needs to be replaced, I keep reminding hubby but since he is so busy it hasnt been done yet, going keep after him until he does it!! 🙂

  175. I changed my wiper blades in October when I put the snow tires on my car. With all the freezing rain this winter so far my blades are already worn and leaving streaks. It seems that my blades are on more than they are off this past month. The weather just won’t quit. I have to drive 3 hours to work each day and I’m sure that is part of the reason my blades are worn already. It’s only been 4 months and I usually only change them twice a year but these ones didn’t hold up so well I guess. Thanks for sharing this very useful review and giveaway.

  197. WOW! My hubby says it’s been over a year ago. We usually change them at least once a year! I was wondering why my window still looked awful, after I used the wiper fluid!

  238. I dont think I have ever personally changed my wiper blades. however, I think they do it during oil changes so about three months ago.

  241. We got our vehicle, a 12 year old van from my hubby’s grandma when she quit driving 2+ years ago. I assume they were new then? But who knows, they could have been 10 years old. Never been changed since we have had the vehicle.

  270. Let’s see the last time I changed my blades? I’d say about a year ago, We soon had to replace them again not a few days latter because the brand we had just wasn’t right. ( they fell apart within a few days!)

  328. I changed mine last summer. Before that I got them put on when I got a bunch of stuff done at a tire place & they charged me $40! All I did was agree to have them change them & they didn’t tell me how much or I wouldve said NO WAY!

I have to change mine rather often- I’m way up north and the weather is super hard on them. And one needs their wipers a lot what with our road spray all winter.

  524. Wow, it’s been such a long time since I’ve changed wiper blades. It must have been 2 yrs ago on my old car. The Bosch wiper blades seem like they’d be great. I live in California too. I know California is touted as an always sunny state but we do get rain and storms sometimes and I think this would be great so I’d feel confident taking a trip to areas where the weather is worse. I wonder how they’d do in snow.
