Call of Duty Black Ops Video Game Review

When Call of Duty Black Ops by Activision finally arrived at our house, there was much rejoicing. You see, my husband had anxiously (that is an understatement really) been waiting for it’s release. He owns the previous versions of Call of Duty, and though they are fun, he thinks this one tops them all – by far.

I had my husband help me with this review (as he is the one who has been playing the game!), and I thought it would be fun to interview him for this review! We have the game for PS3.

What is the premise of Call of Duty Black Ops?
The game starts off in the 60’s with the Bay of Pigs and the player moving through 1960’s Cuba. It’s a little hard to explain, as there are flashbacks and such, but then you are in Vietnam and fight in the suburbs of Hanoi and some well crafted jungle battle scenes. You then move through the players flashback and you end up saving the world from a carefully plotted end of the world scenario.

What do you think of the graphics?
The graphics are amazing! They are very crisp and clear and the weapons used in the game are very realistic (me: and this is saying a lot since he is a police officer!). The game play moves quickly itself too.

What do you like most about the game?
The depth of the storyline and the complexity of the game itself. There are a lot of little things you have to achieve and it is all tied together with the incredible graphics. Online play is really fast, and the graphics don’t suffer while being played online. I love the counters at the bottom of the screen that show statistic totals.

Is there anything you don’t like about the game, or wish could be improved?
The only thing that I would change is each lead in to each phrase is as they are providing the background story, there is a long drawn out story/video that there is no way to bypass, when all you want to do is keep playing the game.

Final thoughts?
I cannot wait for the next one. This is definitely something I would wait in line to buy.

I did a quick video of him playing the game, to show you the graphics and so you can see it in action!

Activision’s Call of Duty Black Ops is rated M (Mature 17+)

Game info:
Single-player,acclaimed multiplayer and 4-player co-op zombies.

This is easily one of the most popular video game this holiday season, which has caused people to stand in line outside retailers doors to get their copy!

  1. My son is begging for this and PS3 but not gonna happen this year. Actually, my hubby is even “campaigning” harder for it than my 13 year old! It’s such a huge thing out there now. Not a bad thing to hunker down for the cold winters and get some father son time I guess!
