Did your child get on the school bus safely?

This is a question that plays through the minds of parents of school age children who ride the bus.  Though my children never rode the bus to school, I can only imagine the worry.  Wondering if my child made it on the bus, off the bus at school, after school, and back home would be enough to make me crazy.

How cool is this student tracking software that I recently discovered?  I think it is a great idea, and one that can save parents lots of worry.  It is a little tracking card that is carried on your child and tells you exactly where they are.  No more calling the school and bugging them to see if your child made it safely.  Children often get distracted and sometimes miss the bus, but I would be so relieved to know right away if they hadn’t arrived at school for some reason.  If you knew your child got on the bus safely, but the bus was nowhere to be found?  Now that would be incredibly scary.  I know panic would set in for me.  That is why I think that school bus gps tracking is equally as important as tracking your student.

Another fear for parents is vehicle maintenance.  We always assume that things are safe, especially cars, airplanes and the school bus that carries our child to school, but how can we be sure?  There is software for that as well!

We sure have come a long way since I was a kid (and even since my kids were little).   There are so many ways to keep our kids, pets and cars safe, which is a really comforting feeling.

  1. Wow, i had no idea something like this was out there. I am a teacher and I know my school would contact the parent/guardian if the student did not show to school that day. But, then the parent would probably go into panic mode if their child didn’t come home after missing the bus.
Great idea to have this software!

  2. Tracking a person for any reason sends all kinds of alarm bells off in my head and I was a parent obsessed about this issue. You would also need to avoid being lulled into a false sense of security. What if someone else took the card or it just got lost? Then a parent would be under the assumption that their child was safe and all the time they should have been looking for them. Just some thoughts.

  3. The tracking system is a really great idea! Another thing that is also useful is the camera systems that you can access through the internet in your house. If you know your child is getting home about the same time everyday you can check the cameras to make sure they get inside safely and then you can set the alarm.

  4. This is SO cool. Being that my kids grew up in a divided home, they went to school in a district that I didn’t live in so I was never “in the loop.” These things would have been fabulous when my kids were little.
    Technology is absolutely amazing now.
I’m going to pass all this info on to my DIL as my grandson starts kindergarten this September – man does that make me feel OLD!!
