Eucerin October Skin Tips

Eucerin October skin ambassador update

Eucerin giveaway at Eighty MPH Mom

It’s time for another Eucerin Skin First update!  October is all about learning the science of aging and how to keep your skin healthy and, in turn, help prevent premature wrinkles and age spots. I am so excited to bring this information to you, as I try to be very careful about doing everything I can to prevent wrinkles and any signs of aging.

First you should know what causes aging. Skin is composed of two main layers, the epidermis and the dermis, with an insulating layer of fat below, called the subcutis. The dermis provides a network of collagen and other connective tissue elements that act like a scaffold that helps to maintain firm, flexible skin. As you age, the collagen network is diminished and your dermis holds less water.

What does this mean for you? Sagging and wrinkles! So what can you do to help prevent premature aging?

Put it out, seriously. Smoking affects more than just your lungs. It results in poor circulation, brown spots and wrinkles. Many of the 4,000 plus chemicals in tobacco smoke can damage our collagen and elastin when absorbed into the skin. These fibers give skin strength and elasticity, so when you’re smoking, you’re getting sags and wrinkles (and giving them to other people too!).

Wear sunscreen. We know you’ve heard this one before but we just can’t stress enough how important it is. Sunscreen is one of the most effective ways to help prevent wrinkles. UVA rays can penetrate into the dermis of the skin and are the primary cause of chronic sun-induced damage like premature skin aging. These rays (or ultraviolet light from tanning booths) are toxic to your skin. They increase production of free radicals and trigger cellular changes that can lead to wrinkles, brown spots, sunburn and dryness, or serious diseases DSB Body Lotion & Handcreme – Finallike cancer.

Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. Extreme changes in temperature and humidity can damage the skin. Cold and dry air saps water from our skin, leaving it dry and flaky while hot and humid air can lead to drier, unhealthy skin. Much of this climatic impact on skin can be prevented with moisturizing cream. Eucerin’s new Daily Skin Balance Skin Fortifying Body Lotion and Hand Crème strengthens the skin’s protective barrier against external elements and enhances skin health while providing 24 hour moisture.

Eat Well. You are what you eat. Limit your consumption of low-fiber, high-sugar carbohydrates (hold off on the ice cream, people). A diet composed of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, high-fiber grains, low-fat dairy and poly- and monounsaturated fats that is low in red meat, saturated fats and sugar, will help maintain your skin’s health.

Have you Taken the Eucerin Skin First Pledge yet?  It is so simple to do.  Please also remind those you love about the importance of taking care of their skin!

  1. My skin is ultra-sensitive, and since I wash with hand sanitizer quite a bit, the winter months can be especially hard on my hands. I am constantly putting lotion on to keep my skin from cracking and drying out.

  2. I try to be good with applying the moisturizers and will do that undoubtedly this winter. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway

  3. My skin gets really dry during the winter, so, I plan to moisturize, moisturize, and moisturize.

  4. I like Eighty mph Mom on Facebook

  5. I plan on wearing suncreen and using tons of moisturizer. The second condition is skin cancer.

  6. I plan to continue to use SPF through the winter and use a bit heavier cream on my face and hands for protection.

  7. I have to use my scarf to cover up on windy days and I use a face moisturizer with sunblock. I’ve been windburned and sunburned in winter. It’s not fun.

  8. I stopped using soap to shower with years ago and now ony shower with shower gels that have moisturizers in them. I also use body oil and coat my body right befoe stepping out of shower and will lightly towel myself dry so that all the oil does not come off. I have very dry feet so I put lotion on them at nigth and wear a thin sock to keep it from getting on the bed or from rubbing off of my feet. I keep a tube of chapstick by all my end tables and in my pocketbook and car so that I can constantly keep my lips from getting dry and chapped.

  9. Since I live in the South, I plan on being more conscientious in using sun screen even in the winter. The second skin condition mentioned in the video is skin cancer. jgs0925(at)gmail(dot)com

  10. I’ll be moisturizing my skin, taking short warm showers (instead of long, hot ones), and covering up and using sunscreen when I go out.

  11. Eucerin is the only moisturizer we use. My husband, daughter and I have very fair skin, and can’t stand harsh soaps or moisturizers. I tend to wash with a mild, fragrance-free soap (baby soap for my face) and then use Eucerin for moisturizing.

  12. During the cold weather, Eucerin is the only hand cream that will heal my chapped hands.

  13. I make sure that I have a cold weather lotion on since I live in Alaska. Also, I need a facemask to avoid windburn.

  14. I plan on protecting my skin this winter by putting lotion on my feet at night and putting socks over them to keep them moisturized and wearing lotion on my hands as much as possible

  15. I plan on protecting my skin with lotions and lip balm. The second thing caused by sun exposure mentioned on the video was skin cancer, so a lotion with SPF is important.

  16. Mostly, I just wanted to let you know that for some reason facebook will not post the link to this and I have tried several times. I follow Eucerin (and you) on twitter under Bella_D, liked them on facebook (though I use a different email for fb & twitter) and took the skin pledge before seeing this entry as my dermatologist introduced me to the brand probably 15 years ago and I truly am a big fan, am an email subscriber, liked you on facebook, tweeted this entry here: http://twitter.com/Bella_D, voted for you on “on the fence”, etc. I hope it’s okay to say Good Luck to everyone else!

  17. I am such a dork. 🙂 Can’t believe I forgot this, but the second condition incidental sun exposure causes is skin cancer and I will continue to protect my skin with Eucerin’s face lotion with the spf 30.

  18. I plan on protecting my skin by using vaseline as a barrier, and drinking lots and lots of water

  19. the second condition mentioned in the video is skin cancer

  20. I plan on protecting my skin with Eucerin products this winter. I’ve used these for several years now and love it!

  21. I plan on using a lot of moisturizing lotion and lip balm this winter since I live just south of Chicago.
Our winters can get very cold and windy. Great giveaway, thanks.
