Go Math! Academy Makes Learning at Home Easy and FUN!

Every day for the past couple of years, my now-four year old has asked when she’s going to go to school. I work with her at home so that she will be prepared when she starts kindergarten and between her and my six year old’s learning struggle, any bonus learning tools help! Go Math! Academy has been the PERFECT aid for my girls!

Go Math! Academy™ is an online, at-home learning program based on Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s enormously successful GO Math!™ textbook curriculum, used by over 7 million kids worldwide. Go Math! Academy offers thousands of math practice problems, hundreds or help videos, and plenty of games and rewards to make learning fun!

The current grades available are K-6 but I think that Go Math! Academy a great tool for preschoolers too. As soon as I showed my four year old how to work the mouse, she easily grasped how to navigate the Go Math! Academy website. There is a button to click for the computer to read the math questions to your child and this is an aspect that I absolutely love. If they can learn on their own without too much mom interference, I feel like that could really benefit them and also me, because then they can work independently on their “assignments” while I get some cleaning, cooking, or other mom-tasks done!

My four year old is extremely excited about using Go Math! Academy to the point that she’s been telling strangers in the stores we shop at, “Mommy let’s me do my homework on her computer!” She’s been doing fantastically well learning her numbers, to count, compare values, add, and many other things so far. I know this even when I’m not in the room, because Go Math! Academy e-mails me her progress report, as well as displays it on our dashboard on the website.

My older daughter has been improving her math skills with the reinforcement of the Go Math! Academy program. She considers it more of a play time than work so she’s always hounding me for her turn to practice with Go Math! Academy! The way that each problem is done step-by-step is very beneficial for her, given her struggles with learning and how she has a hard time paying attention or memorizing after longer periods.

Go Math! Academy is an awesome program for the kids and it’s the best aid for learning at home. Since my four year old isn’t in preschool, we find that the program will be perfect to help us to prepare her for kindergarten. She has been 100% correct in her answers on her own so far, with nothing but minimal explanation of the meaning of “greater than” and “less than” from me. My husband said, “She’s doing really well on that website! Let’s keep the subscription, how much is it for a year? $79.99 isn’t bad at all!” There are so many topics for her to get through and if she happens to master kindergarten, we can just move on to first grade! So the bottom line is… we’re hooked!

  1. I wish they had something like this when I was in school, I always struggled with math and I’m sure it would have helped so much.

  2. This program looks great. For the whole year $79.99 is not bad either. I love the fact that you can have five kids one your account. I will definitely have to give this a try with my kids and will recommend to others. Is there a Facebook page for the company?

  3. I love that they offer this for the kindergarten age group as well since many programs are geared toward either the preschool group or older grade levels. We might have to give it a try!

  4. This is a great program to be involved in. I like that the prices are not high and that Math Academy can be done at home and that it makes learning about Math Fun! I wish I had this for my son when he was younger.

  7. I wish they had this when I was young, I could have used this. My girls are out of school now or about to. Nice thing to have for young kids.

  8. We had math workbooks to help but these days kids do and enjoy computers so much, they probably respond better to this help.

  9. Every time I see something like this that looks so amazing, I get sad that it wasn’t available when my daughter was in these age brackets. It would have made math a lot more fun for her and I believe that would have led to better grades. Her grades were good… some A’s and some B’s, but she’s a perfectionist, and those B’s were upsetting to her. 🙂

  10. This looks like a great program for learning math. I love how fun it looks…like you are learning but you think it’s just a game!

  11. My granddaughter just got her first grade report card and she is struggling in math. I get to stressed trying to help her so this would be great.

  13. Looks like a great learning tool will have to check it out more when my son gets closer to going to school.

  14. I love this! My son loves math and is so excited to learn. He knows the multiplication table and wants to learn division and is only in the 1st grade. This would be great for him!

  15. That is a great idea. I know that math was one of my tougher subjects in elementary school and that would have been a great way to get ahead (I think all we had was Oregon Trail though

  16. This looks like something my kids could benefit from. They are struggling in math (3 of them are) Thanks for the review.

  17. I wish I could of been home schooled. I probably would have done better than I did at regular school. I would love to be able to get this for my niece to give her a head start.

  18. The elementary school where my wife works using their classroom curriculum. She says it gives the children many different ways of thinking about math.

  19. This looks like such a great program for helping children with math. I wish that there had been a program like this when I was younger as Math was always my worst subject!
