We recently moved across town and into a new neighborhood. With that comes so many new firsts for my kids- first night in their new rooms, first walk to school from their new house, and first Halloween trick or treating in our new neighborhood.
My daughter is two and doesn’t really have a huge opinion about her costume yet. But my son is six and really loves all things pirate. He likes to tell pirate themed jokes and loves to read about the adventures of Peter Pan and Captain Hook. He likes to sing the Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything song from Veggie Tales and he loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates.
It has been hard to find a pirate costume for him- I wanted him to have something that was made well and age appropriate. A lot of pirate costumes out there were not designed for a little boy in mind!
Malone was super excited to receive the Captain Charlie costume from HABA (he’s literally jumping for joy). He is a tall six year old and it fit him just perfectly. It is sized for ages three to six, he’s at the top end of the right fit but I love that it has a general size!
The costume features a bright red jacket with orange trim, a belt with golden buckle, and a gold embroidered velcro “button”. It is extra soft and easy to put on. Malone has some sensory issues with the texture of clothing, but this didn’t bother him one bit!
We also received a Captain Charlie’s hat and beard as well as Captian Charlie’s sword to complete the look. The sword is great for pretend play and really helped bring the character to life! The hat and beard were also super fun, Malone is obsessed with beards and mustaches and really enjoyed sporting one of his own. There are two other pieces available in the Captain Charlie collection, a parrot and a ball and chain.
Malone had a blast wearing this costume and pretending to be a pirate. HABA is a brand that is well known to be an innovative toy maker focused on quality pieces. This costume is an heirloom piece for us and I know that when he outgrows it, his sister and cousins will enjoy it as well!

Really cute. I like that everything is made from soft fabric.
I wish my son were still younger…he loved Pirate things too. We had the words to Pirate of the Caribbeans movie memorized and we acted out some of the Pirate scenes.
