My daughter and I have a wonderful relationship. She is thirteen years old, and I keep expecting her sweet personality to change. Maybe someday it will, but for now I will soak it all up while her mom is still the most special thing in the world to her.
She is my buddy. We laugh and joke constantly. One of our favorite things to say to each other is “I’ll miss you!!”. Whether we are heading to bed, she is off to school, or I am going shopping…we always say (half jokingly), “But I’ll miss you!”.
The other morning before school, she asked me to make her a sandwich to take for lunch. I was really tired and said, “How about I give you some money for a school lunch?”. She told me that she really wanted a “Mommy Sandwich”. Awww. How could I resist that?
I headed downstairs and made her a sandwich. Then I got creative. I decorated the plastic baggy with Valentine candy, and wrote sweet nothings on the bag. I wasn’t expecting quite the reaction I got when she came downstairs to head out the door. She let out a huge “awwwwww, I love it!” She kept staring at it, and was just so happy. My heart melted of course, and I knew it was so worth it to see her so happy. Here is my masterpiece:
