Words can’t describe how excited I am about this news! I was invited to NYC with 24 other bloggers for Marvel’s the Avengers, which is closing out the Tribeca Film Festival, at the end of April!
The really neat thing is that the real, everyday heroes will be celebrated. These include heroes from police agencies, fire departments, first responders and various branches of the U.S. military. These local heroes will have an opportunity to attend the screening and meet the cast – how cool is that? This is especially heartwarming for me, as my husband is a Police Captain, and the men and women in law enforcement (and fire, our military, etc.) don’t often get celebrated as they should.
Marvel’s the Avengers sounds like such a fun movie, and the cast is pretty amazing: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders and Tom Hiddleston, with Stellan Skarsgård and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Marvel’s the Avengers is directed by Joss Whedon and is a character-driven story packed with action, adventure and special effects.
Oh I have so much to do before I go. A girl needs a new dress for an event like this, right? I have been looking all over the place (online) to find something really special, and will hit the stores in the coming weeks. All prettied up in New York City? It’s a dream come true!

Last but certainly not least, I wanted to share this really touching video with you. This dad is dressed up as a superhero, and surprises his son for his birthday. I sat here with a great big smile on my face while watching:
Also attending are many of the bloggers I met on the Gnomeo and Juliet Red Carpet event, including Brandy from Not So Average Mama (she and I were like peas in a pod!), and so many others. I will also get to see my buddy Marshall again! He is the guy who is putting this amazing event together for us.
