Mom’s Got Eyes in the Back of Her Head with the Motorola MBP853CONNECT WiFi Video Baby Monitor

Disclosure review

“Why do we even need video monitors?” asked a soon-to-be first-time mom in one of my pregnancy groups. Oh, I could write a book on how useful a video baby monitor is for my home. There are all types of monitors out there and I’ve always found that Motorola is my favorite and the brand that I most often recommend to new moms. My first ever monitor was an audio monitor. Well, it told me when the baby was crying if I was out of the room, I guess that’s something. When my great aunt gave me a Motorola video monitor with my next baby, I quickly realized how essential this was going to be for my household.

With a video monitor, you can see those moments when your stealthy older infant has quietly awakened and is now trying to remove her pajamas. If you rely on the audio, you might just hear a tiny peep. Or, you might just walk in on a mess all over her crib and the walls besides it. I prefer to have my eyes everywhere. I like to know that little guy is beginning to stir, even if he’s quiet to wake. As my children grow, I find that the video monitor is still, if not even more, useful to us.

Bedtime in our house can be a bit wild. Some days, everybody wants to get back up because they “forgot” to go to the bathroom or they’re now thirsty. Other days, things appear to go seamlessly. Everyone is in bed, the lights are off and the doors are shut. Silence takes over the house. A quick turn of the switch on our Motorola video monitor shows that all is not as it seems. Two kids are out of bed, making absolutely no noise as they drive toy cars back and forth on the floor next to their beds. The audio monitors won’t likely catch that and I’m not going to open the door to their bedrooms every few minutes to find out if their sleeping, risking waking them up!

The Motorola MBP853CONNECT-2 is amazing!! We decided that this time, we wanted a WiFi monitor. When my mom watches the kids, she is sometimes unreachable by phone. I know this notion makes some moms completely crazy but I love my mom and I trust her…and yes, it makes me crazy too! We thought that it would be great if we had access to peek in on our kids while they’re being babysat, and decided WiFi would be a great way to do that!

I hooked up our Motorola MBP853CONNECT-2, which is a dual video monitor, perfect for mamas of multiples or who want to watch more than one room at a time. I say “hooked it up” but it’s really quite straight forward, which I love. Setting up the WiFi takes a few extra minutes but for good reason, SAFETY! When I mentioned getting a WiFi monitor, safety was the concern of many of my friends. The Motorola MBP853CONNECT-2 has you set up an account on an app called “Hubble”. Your account is password protected and then set up on your WiFi, which you also need the password to (assuming you use password-protected WiFi, which I recommend!). With the Hubble app, you can name each room that you’re monitoring and have access to the same settings as you would on the handset for the monitors. I haven’t actually used it outside of the home yet but I always have my phone with me so every time I forget to bring the handset with me to bed, for instance, I can check on everyone from my phone! You can also set alerts for sound or movement and save them.

One of my favorite features of the Motorola MBP853CONNECT-2 is the ability to tilt and scan the room, all remotely. You can turn the camera left or right and up or down, which I find constantly convenient. If the kids are supposed to be cleaning up, I can see that they’re not and use the microphone button to remind them that they need to be doing so! There are spots on the bottom of the camera to mount it to the wall/ceiling and I think I may do that, just because my son is at the age where he might want to touch it.

With the Motorola MBP853CONNECT-2, you can also check temperature, adjust volume, zoom, timers, set the screen to scan all of the cameras you have connected, or use picture-in-picture to watch multiple monitors at once. The kids have become obsessed with having the music playing in each of their rooms. Each camera works separately so each can listen to their own and you can put it on a timer. It seems to help everyone get to sleep!

As you can see, I already absolutely love our Motorola MBP853CONNECT-2 and I would and am recommending it to every parent who will listen! It’s making our lives so much easier and that is exactly what I need!

When my kids were little, there was nothing out there like this other than the monitors to hear noise that ran on batteries. This is so awesome and I love that you can actually see a picture of the baby.

I had NO idea Motorola designed baby monitors! Pretty cool that HUBBLE app, as long as it is all protected by passwords.
