Hello my name is Tammy and I’m a coffee addict. In my home I have a built in coffee bar, complete with fridge, sink and no less than six ways to brew up a cup of joe. To say that java runs in my veins is probably not an exaggeration in the least. My little home set up means that I get to play Barista with my friends and family. They know to come to me before they put a dent in their wallet at the coffee shop.
I have a variety of single serve coffee makers that attempt to make coffee house beverages. Don’t get me wrong, for putting a plastic cup in a machine and pressing a button they do a decent job, but no one that’s a coffee connoisseur would confuse one of those with one made in a café. Lattés, mochas, cappuccinos those take a bit more finesse than the average home machine can produce. Really it makes sense as the whole reason those drinks stand out from just plain coffee is that the milk has to be frothed.

Thanks to a
Mr. Coffee Automatic Milk Frother review unit I received, I am now able to up the ante in my own home when it comes to coffee house beverages.

I LOVE IT! I really recommend it as a great gift to the coffee-lovers in your life.
The main task of this little machine is to heat or froth your milk up for premium beverages. Don’t just think coffee, you can do hot cocoas, cold drinks, tea lassis, all sorts of beverages with it.

While it works best with 2% or higher fat content milk, I’ve used both 1% and non-dairy creamer in it and it worked like a boss. The settings on it include cappuccino, latte, warm milk and iced cappuccino. It’s easy to operate and pretty quick to whip and/or heat up the milk.

So lets look what’s involved in making a latte with this machine. I made a Raspberry Chocolate one the other day and it really couldn’t have been easier.
I added 1/2 ounce of raspberry syrup to the mug, while I was brewing the strong coffee I poured 4 oz of milk into the Mr. Coffee Automatic Milk Frother, and just pressed the button until it indicated Latte, hit the power button and away it went spinning and heating that milk up for me.

I then added an ounce of strongly brewed coffee, a tablespoon of the milk from the machine, stirred in a tablespoon of hot chocolate powder and then added the rest of the milk from the frother.

FANTASTIC.
And because I just couldn’t not show you the nice cappuccino foam it makes, I used the frother again to make some of that so you could see the nice foam it makes on that setting.. and this is with 1% milk, it will be much foamier and creamier with a higher fat content.

So think of this. A premium beverage like a Raspberry Chocolate Latte in an 8 to 12 ounce size at a coffee shop will run you minimum $4. Granted, your costs are going to vary by the coffee you use, the cost of milk, how often you drink a coffee house beverage and other things, but I’d be willing to bet the average person doing the math will see a return in savings on their purchase with the Mr. Coffee Automatic Milk Frother costing just $49.99. Plus you can make and drink that latte in your pjs 😉 I don’t think you can even put a price tag on that!

Now you will be able to make lattes and cappuccinos that ARE comparable to a café and it is the milk froth that makes all the difference. For a countertop machine that has a small footprint, it has some serious frothing power, if you’re only familiar with those frothing wands this is so much better. As for the flavor, it steams the milk well. I think that when you heat on the stovetop you can get a bit of a burnt or curdled taste to your milk if you’re not careful. The Mr. Coffee Automatic Milk Frother heats the milk to just the right temperature for all your drinks.

While I plan on leaving this on my counter in my coffee bar all the time, it’s small enough to store and the frothing disc fits into a little compartment underneath the machine when you’re not using it. Also just a note that the disc is magnetic so you just drop it in its place in the metal frothing cup and it stays fastened. When its frothing milk it does so evenly because the magnet adhesion keeps it from flopping around.

All in all, I think the
Mr. Coffee Automatic Milk Frother is an excellent buy for those wanting a coffee-house-quality beverages at home. It’s easy to use, fast and very affordable (my battery operated frother wand was $20 and doesn’t heat milk).
