Open Ended Play With Build & Imagine Pet Portrait Studio

holiday gift guide 2015 350
We spend a long season playing with trains….each train took on a life of it’s own and the stories flowed out easily. But now that my son is six, we’re struggling to find toys that encourage him to play creatively without playing for him. If given the choice, he’d rather move into tech world. And I’d rather him not. Malone is the kind of kid who loves to build and create. If he’s not using blocks to build cities, he can typically be found with his journal writing and illustrating stories he’s created. In his mind, there is one or the other….building or imagining.

The Build & Imagine Pet Portrait Studio provides an amazing invitation to play for both boys and girls. The set includes Ethan and Anna dress up characters, four wooden pets, ten double sided building panels and more than forty magnetic accessories. The magnetic accessories include additional pets, clothing for Ethan and Anna, paintings for the walls and much more.

The double sided building panels are magnetic and easily come together to create play scenes. Because the panels are double sided, the play can happen in all directions! The pieces are study and well made. The colors are vibrant and the back drops are engaging.

Build and Imagine Pet Shop 1

At first, Malone was just excited to build/design his house and decorate it. But as he started to play with it more, he realized that he could craft stories to go alongside what he had built. This was a big deal for us- and really exciting to see because he had married the idea of building and imagining.

The Build & Imagine Pet Portrait Studio is something a girl would love playing with too. My daughter isn’t quite old enough yet (she’s only two), but she was really interested in what Malone was playing with. This toy is the best of both worlds- it combines STEM with creativity and unlocks hours of fun for everyone. I don’t always love playing with the toys my kids have, but I found myself tinkering with this one…. trying out different house constructions and layouts as well as decorating it!

Build And Imagine 4

When I asked Malone what he of the Build & Imagine Pet Portrait Studio, he could not stop raving about it.

I like that this toy is not just for girls and not just for boys. This is a toy for everyone. I think it is really fun to build the house…. I like to make it different every time. Sometimes, I even get a little wacky and make one of the outside pieces be an inside piece. What I really like the most about this is that playing with it is never the same. Every time I get it out and play with it, it always feels new. I want to get the other sets so I can make one huge set! This is one of my top five toys of the year!

I have to agree with everything he said and have recommended it to several friends who asked for gift ideas. The Build & Imagine Brand has won several toy awards this year, and it is easy to see why! The Pet Portrait Studio won a Parents’ Choice Gold Award!
