P.F. Chang’s Home Menu
On January 22, my family sat down at the dinner table in a festive mood because we were celebrating the Chinese New Year and this year just happens to be the year of the Dragon. Our family is very familiar with China and their customs and traditions as my sister did mission work over there for several years back in 2001-2004. Our family has lots of great memorabilia she brought us back from China and the kids even have some China clothes too. She can cook very authentic and delicious Chinese dishes but she isn’t always available when we want to eat a good Chinese meal. Therefore, we were super excited to get to celebrate Chinese New Year with P.F. Chang’s Home Menu dishes. They sent us 2 beautiful red paper lanterns that we decorated our table with to create a Chinese festive atmosphere.
We got to try two of their delicious line of flavors: Firecracker Shrimp with Yakisoba Noodles and Grilled Chicken Teriyaki with LoMein Noodles.
As a busy Mom, I loved how easy these meals were to prepare. Simply remove them from the freezer, pour them into a large skillet, cover and stir occasionally while cooking for 10-15 minutes or until sizzling hot. I have to admit, I knew the kids would love the chicken meal but assumed the Firecracker Shrimp would be too hot for their little mouths. How wrong I was!! They all 3 loved the heat and spiciness of the Firecracker Shrimp. I had to ration their portions so my husband and I could have some to try as well. The Grilled Chicken Teriyaki was a delicious entree also. I loved the flavor combinations of sweet pineapple & sweet teriyaki sauce mixed with peppers and onions over a bed of noodles and grilled chicken. The P.F. Chang’s Home Menu meals are something we learned our entire family can eat and enjoy together and make a delicious meal without a lot of work.
The Red Envelope in China represents another Chinese tradition on Chinese New Year. Red Envelopes are filled with gifts and given to family and friends during the Chinese New Year festivities created to help share good fortune. The color red stands for good luck and P.F. Chang’s sent our family a “red envelope” of our own. Inside our envelope was a $10 gift certificate to P.F. Chang’s restaurants and a coupon for a free P.F. Chang’s Home Menu dinner (found in your local grocery store’s freezer section). I quickly used my free coupon and got the Orange Chicken meal to enjoy very soon. I decided to give the $10 gift certificate to my sister & brother-in-law since they love going to P.F. Chang’s to eat and they are the proud parents of a new baby so a night out would be a treat for them. P.F. Chang’s also sent us a 2012 calendar as well as a Chinese New Year t-shirt to enjoy wearing.
