Imagine a company that hand manufactures soft toys and provides jobs helping women get out of poverty.  That company is Pebble!  All of Pebble’s products are made by Hathay Bunano, meaning “handmade” or “hand knitted” in Bangla, which is a non-profit fair trade organization in Bangladesh.  Hathay Bunano provides employment which fits in with the ladies rural life and prevents economic migration to the cities.  It is trying to keep families together by providing employment close to their homes.  Kahiniwalla is the distributor of Pebble products here is the US. Upon returning from his work in Bangladesh Austin Miller wanted to continue helping to provide employment for the poor of Bangladesh and decided to do so by distributing their high quality handmade products in North America.

Flexible hours, flexible schedules, and Hathay Bunano pays 25% higher than the normal minimum wage.  Since it’s beginning Hathay Bunano has doubled the number of women employed ever year and now employ over 6,500 women in 64 centers throughout Bangladesh.  Products made by these women are distributed in over 20 countries all over world!

The catalog has a nice variety of items which include rag dolls, animals, rattles, and nursery items.  Vibrant colors and 100% cotton yarn and fabric make these pieces super soft next to your baby or child’s skin.

This beauty is made with 100% cotton yarn and would make a perfect blanket to gift or for your own tots as a stroller blanket.  The colors just pop!  All products are easy to wash and care for.

Recently a friend of mine gave birth to twins and I really enjoyed going through the catalog trying to decide what to choose to review from Pebble.  I kept coming back to to this doudou or as we call it here at The Zoo a lovey.  Two of my three used them and the middle daughter still sleeps with hers.  They comfort children and help them to fall asleep easier.  Buy 2, just saying!

I ended up choosing a few hats for the new wee ones.  I can tell you that they are super colorful and soft!  There are no spots in the manufacturing that would make the hats uncomfortable on a child’s head.  You baby (or child, they come in sizes 0-6mo, 6-12mo, 1-2y, 3-5y) will be warm and fashionable!  The tassels on top of the owl are a hoot!  The eyes on top of our purple frog hat are adorable!  There are two flowers on each side and a smiley face.  There were a handful of hats to choose from but I thought these had a perfect amount of whimsey to give to a new mama and for the quality I believe that the price of $22.95 was fair.

Perhaps you would rather organic cotton.  Each of the items in the Pebble organic line use dye which is Oeko-tex certified making the products the safest combination for a newborn’s skin.  The purple bear rattle will be a favorite with your baby and coordinates nicely with hats and blankets in the organic line.  Beautiful gift!
