This book is not only interesting for the kids to read but for me and my husband to browse through as well. It is filled with so many facts and statistics that even we were not familiar with. As a homeschooling Mom, this book will be a valuable resource for years to come. It is a wonderful tool for researching statistics and facts about countries throughout the world, learning US facts and history, obtaining economic and business information and even learning about fun things such as sports and entertainment. For example, when our daughter was learning to count money we used pg. 59 of the book to teach her what all the markings and pictures on the US $1 bill stood for. When we were learning about Papua New Guinea, we turned to page 822 to read about the people, geography, government, economy and much more! The kids loved looking at the full-color pictures found throughout the book and often the pictures made them ask questions that required us to study and investigate things further which only broadened their scope of learning.
Sarah Janssen, senior editor of 2012 The World Almanac states it so well when she says “From its cover to its contents, The World Almanac embodies the record-setting events and surprising developments that characterize the year 2011. We are proud that even as the world swiftly changes, The World Almanac remains a constant, authoritative source for all entertainment, reference and learning needs.” The World Almanac would be a wonderful book to add to your home library collection to enjoy as a family, bless a teacher or school librarian with or give to a college student. The price is right too – only $7.79 at Amazon.com!

My favorite section is the year in sports but I think one of the reasons it’s one of the best selling reference book, aside from the interesting facts, is the pictures as well.
