Recently we took on the great task of reorganizing our house, and in the process, I finally got my wish of getting my own dedicated office! I have been waiting years (literally) for the chance to have my own office, but we simply never had enough room. I desperately need an office so I can close the door and concentrate when I need to get work done. I also want it so that I can organize all of my photography equipment and props. I will finally have a place to store all of my oil painting supplies (one of my many hobbies). Currently, most of the above items are stacked in the living room, which makes it hard to work efficiently. When I was asked to review and write about a piece of furniture from Sauder*, I was incredibly excited. Although we have painted my office, there is nothing else in the room. Naturally, I wanted to order a desk for my new digs! When I arrived on the Sauder website, something stood out to me immediately – their furniture is made in the USA! I try to buy products made in the US whenever I can, so knowing this made me very happy. As I browsed around their website further, I was impressed with the selection of not only desks, but of all types of furniture. The site was very easy to navigate, making it easy to find exactly what I was looking for.
I have to admit that I had a hard time deciding on which desk to order since they have so many attractive choices for different needs. There were corner units, simple desks, desks for desktop computers and streamlined for those who use a laptop (like me). My first choice was only available online at Office Depot, but that wasn’t a big deal for me, since I had kind of fallen in love with another desk. I ended up ordering the Sauder Computer desk from the Camarin Collection, as it is really attractive, and the drawers are perfect for my needs. Isn’t she pretty?
I wasn’t just excited to have any desk, but after learning that Sauder products are made in the USA, I felt good ordering from them. We have had plenty of assemble-yourself furniture in the past, and most didn’t hold up well to wear and tear and they were just cheaply made. We never spent much money on desks and other furniture for the kids for this very reason. My husband and I were extremely impressed at how well the desk was packaged when it arrived. Each corner and side were carefully protected, then wrapped in plastic.
As we opened the packaging we were surprised at how neatly and perfect everything was laid out. As we removed each piece, we were surprised how solid each was.
My husband and I assembled the desk together, and it took us about 2 hours (I will explain what portion was time-consuming below). The only tools needed are a hammer and screwdriver!
The assembly directions for the Sauder Computer Desk were very well-written and easy to follow. If you have ever tried to follow assembly instructions for some products, it can be very frustrating. But with these directions, each step is very well thought out. The instructions are precise, which allowed us to perform a function once and only once. With other assembly instructions it is easy to make mistakes that require you to undo and then redo the steps to assemble the product correctly (extremely time-consuming!). These instructions pretty much guarantee that our desk would be assembled correctly the first time.
One thing that was really neat were the drawer runners. The kit comes with a “camming” piece which allows you to make exact adjustments to the height of the drawers so that they fit properly, and right where you need them. Another HUGE plus was that all of the screw holes were pre-drilled and perfectly aligned. Lastly, we were thrilled that there were no missing parts! It usually never fails (in our experience at least) that assembly kits typically have missing pieces. Overall we were ecstatic with both the ease of assembly and the look and construction of my new desk. If we had to suggest something that could be improved, it would be the pedestal (it is basically the “legs” on the drawer side of desk).
It looks really nice but it took about 30 minutes to assemble this portion. There were quite a few parts to the pedestal, and if some of them could be eliminated, that would make it a bit easier. It is very apparent to us that Sauder takes great pride in delivering quality furniture that is easy to assemble. This indicates to us that they care about the satisfaction of their customers. If only other companies would be as concerned! We are huge Sauder fans, and will definitely be ordering from them again. Make sure you stay tuned for my post in October, where I will show you the many ways I use my desk! I love how functional it is, and can’t wait for you to see what I mean. *I will receive compensation, in addition to the above product, to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own and 100% honest.
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Sauder. The opinions and text are all mine.

I love the finished look of this desk but I hate to put things together and really don’t want to ever do it again.

It looks like a nice desk, but I wouldn’t want to have to put it together. It is pretty though.
Leela
It looks very easy to put together.
