Black and Light Candle Co. Review and giveaway

If you know me, then you know that I love all candles.  From scented to unscented, to plain or fancy, I just love them.  There is a special glow with a candle that just feels “cozy” and comforting.  Black and Light candles certainly fit the bill for what I consider outstanding candles.

What makes Black and Light Co. Candles unique?
Their glow: these candles have the unbelievable ability to glow from wick to base. Once lit, the glow literally bursts from every angle of the candle, and even out through the bottom.

Their design: conceptualized, designed and created by a candle aficionado and manufactured here in the United States.

Artisan Production Process: each candle takes over three days in production and twenty man-hours to create. Designs are first drawn by hand and take up to fifty hours to complete.

Life span: a 15 hour-an-inch burn time which is about three times the average store bought candle.

Cause: packaged and shipped by workers with disabilities. black & light® co creates jobs in a tough market economy. black and light® co supports several charitable concerns.

Fragrance Free: they do not interfere with the aroma of home cooked meals, perfume, fresh cut flowers or create allergic reactions for people or their pets.

Packaging: recycled and reusable boxes that are in and of themselves-gifts.

I was absolutely delighted when I received a candle to review from Black and Light Co. The first thing that impressed me was how beautifully it was packaged. The box was black and white striped, and the candle was packed so neatly inside. I really hated to open it, since it looked so perfect.

When I did finally muster up the courage to open it, and what I saw inside nearly made me gasp. The most gorgeous candle stood before me!  I chose a candle from their “Dots and Curls” collection –  ‘Pear’  {ARV $24.00}. It is white with light green swirls all around the candle.

I lit it immediately, and let it burn for several hours –  I wanted to get the full effect of this candle. The wax pooled perfectly even after burning for quite awhile.  No lopsided candles here!  It is unscented, which is nice – especially when the desire is to have the ambiance of a candle, but not necessarily the scent.  I have to be in just the right mood for scented candles. I tried to get a picture of it burning, so you could see the glow, but it was hard to get just the right shot, but as the candle burns down a bit, the glow makes the pattern on the outside of the candle light up – it is so pretty! I cannot wait to see how it looks as the candle burns down even more.

You can see the candle I reviewed in the picture at the left. It is a little hard to see the detail, but trust me, it is amazing.  The candle is 4″ tall and 3″ in diameter.  It is fragrance free and will burn for approximately 60 hours.

When you purchase Black and Light® Co. candles, you help preserve a tradition in candle making that goes back thirty years. Each candle requires up to twenty hours of intense handcrafted effort by skilled craftspeople. Our candles provide up to fifteen hours of illumination per inch with proper care. Black and Light Co. candles use 100% cotton wicks and fragrance-free premium food grade paraffin. Our candle boxes are —by design— reusable and are gifts in and of themselves.

  125. I honestly have a hard time choosing between all of them – especially the DESIGN Collection – but I finally decided my most favorite favorite is the oh so lovely “6” Tulip – Lavender” – it’s really quite exquisite.
