Still Hungry After 45 years! The Very Hungry Caterpillar Anniversary! {with prize pack giveaway}

Still Hungry After 45 years! The Very Hungry Caterpillar Anniversary! {with prize pack giveaway}It’s hard to believe! The Very Hungry Caterpillar is celebrating its 45th Anniversary! This preschool classic by Eric Carle was one of Luv’s very favorite board books when she was a tot and now she enjoys reading it to her little brother!

Did you know?

Since its publication in 1969, 36 million copies of the book have sold worldwide and it has been published in 55 languages. That year the book was also named one of the best children’s books of the year by The New York Times, and it has since become a beloved, must-own classic. Today, every 30 seconds, somewhere in the world, a copy of The Very Hungry Caterpillar is sold.

Still Hungry After 45 years! The Very Hungry Caterpillar Anniversary! {with prize pack giveaway}

It is truly a beloved story in our home. So much so that The Very Hungry Caterpillar was the theme for Bugsy’s first birthday party! I thought it was quite fitting given his nickname… and considering how much the boy loves to eat. Ha!

Still Hungry After 45 years! The Very Hungry Caterpillar Anniversary! {with prize pack giveaway}

Suffice to say, the Very Hungry Caterpillar will always hold a special place in our hearts. I can only guess that when our children become parents, they will still be hungry for this classic as well! I also hope Bugsy will appreciate reading his keepsake copy with his children, and revisit the “wishes” loved ones left for him on his first birthday.

Still Hungry After 45 years! The Very Hungry Caterpillar Anniversary! {with prize pack giveaway}

The anniversary will be officially celebrated on the annual “Very Hungry Caterpillar Day” which takes place every year on the first day of spring. Yes! On March 20th grab your book and celebrate! We will, for sure. It’s a good thing I kept all the decorations from his party! *wink*
