Take the Allegra Outdoor Challenge with WNBA Star Lisa Leslie

Allergies, if you have them then you know how horrible they are. As a kid, I suffered through them ungodly every single spring and summer. We went camping often and let me tell you this, sleeping on the top tiny “bunk” of a small camper while already not being able to breathe can make you quite claustrophobic rather quickly. Add to that playing and/or attending every little league, school, and township sporting event and you’ve certainly got a problem on your hands.

Basketball was one of my things. I played competitively and recreationally throughout the years and even found myself at a few basketball sleep-away camps during the summers. Though I was determined to not allow my allergies to stop me, I must admit that they did slow me down. Finally, I moved out of state (unrelated to my allergies) and, luckily, my allergies decided to stay behind. Win! Then, well then, I came back again only to unwillingly welcome my allergies back.

Now, I have tried just about everything under the sun from home remedies and nasal strips to over the counter products and plain staying indoors. Unfortunately, nothing has worked. Now that I have my own little ones, I refuse to let something as small as allergies stop me, nor slow me down. The kids enjoy the outdoors just as much, if not more, than I do and this year we will enjoy it – thanks to WNBA star Lisa Leslie and Allegra.

Lisa has partnered with Allegra to help families manage their seasonal allergies while still remaining active through, both, spring and summer. Through the Allegra Outdoor Challenge, families can enjoy endless fun together while competing in exciting fitness challenges and performing easy-to-do workouts. And Allegra makes it all possible for those of us with allergies. With products that offer relief for everyone ages two and up, Allegra has the whole family covered.

Now, growing up with horrible allergies, I am quite skeptical on the promises that these medications make. I have yet to find a product that holds true to its claims and actually offers long-lasting relief… until now. Allegra has finally gotten me off of the “I’ve given up” train and I love that I am now able to enjoy the outdoors while being able to breathe. Imagine that! The simple ability to sit outside and breathe in the fresh air is taken for granted all too often these days but between me, the lovely Lisa Leslie, and Allegra, we will change that.

I love that, with Allegra, the outdoors (the park, the beach, and even my backyard) has become my second home. Having little ones, of course, keeps us quite active but Lisa’s Allegra Outdoor Challenge has taken that to a whole new level. Take jump-ropes for example. When is the last time that you picked one up? How about a basketball? Can you still nail those free-throws or that layup? Allegra sent me the Allegra Outdoor Fitness Pack, a kit full of goodies to keep families active regardless of allergies.

With Allegra’s 12-to-24-hour relief, we happily spent the entire day outside sneeze and itchy-eye free! The kids certainly had a blast watching me look like a goof while trying to teach them how to jump-rope. Though, covering our entire porch (and sidewalk… and driveway) with chalk drawings was probably their favorite activity.

The combination of the Allegra along with Lisa’s tips and challenges help families, like mine; make the very best of their time outdoors. Take this one on for size…

Slide Workout (333x500)

Playgrounds aren’t just for kids! Lisa Leslie shows us that all you need is monkey bars or a park bench to inspire some creative workout moves. Use a sturdy edge of a park bench to do leg-lifts and toe-touches or use the monkey bars to see who can hang the longest!

Who would’ve thought, right? Keep up with more great tips and challenges through the Allegra Facebook and Twitter pages.

The coupling of this amazing partnership along with its focus on keeping families active and healthy outdoors is certain to put a pep in your step this spring. In addition to sharing a plethora of information and challenges, Allegra wants to help one lucky Eighty MPH Mom reader start enjoying the outdoors right away. One winner will receive their very own Allegra Outdoor Fitness Pack to get your spring season started off on the right foot and allow you to live life in the moment, allergy free!

  9. My tip is to try to take a walk every night after dinner and play games along the way, like a scavenger hunt or naming things that start with each letter of the alphabet, or just use the time to talk.

  10. keep moving, whether it be walking, running, biking or hiking or even simple tag or hide and seek, as long as you are moving you are burning calories and helping to stay fit and healthy

  11. Play fun games with your children that require physical activity such as hide and seek and hopscotch and it won’t even feel like exercise for you or them.

  12. My youngest son loves basketball & I would like to start playing with him sometimes at the park .. I think quality time is much more important than quantity .. I also want to buy a bike which I enjoy & really could use the exercise!

  16. I love to run early in the morning–I’m out the door to run by 6:00am.
But I suffer from horrendous allergies to all types of pollen–early morning
is when tree pollen is at it’s highest levels–I always take my allegra
when I get out of bed to help prevent allergic reactions.

  17. To get my son away from his game and moving we usually go to the beach 3 to 4 x a week to walk the dogs it is pretty and it is a good people watching walk

  18. My best tip is to find a sport you enjoy, like kickball or basketball. That way exercise doesn’t feel so forced.

  22. Have fun with family why your doing it, then you won’t realize how much exercise your actually doing and enjoying your time together.

  23. Best tip is once you are in your workout clothes, there’s a 99% chance you’re gonna work out. Because you’ll feel silly watching TV in your gym clothes, you know? Once everybody puts their gear on it’s gonna happen.

  24. Swimming is our favorite outdoor activity in the summer. We also go on walks after dinner in the early evening. It’s great bonding time!
