Target Circle Savings: 5 Insider Target Secrets

December 9, 2021 by Eighty Mph Mom Leave a Comment

If I had a nickel for every time I heard the person checking out in front of me say, “No, I don’t use Target Circle”, I’d be able to go on a Target shopping spree! People are just moving too fast to understand where Target keeps the bulk of their deals. Don’t worry, I’m breaking down 5 Target Secrets and how to use Target Circle in this simple guide.

Target Circle Savings

Many people are confused about the difference between Target Circle and the Target app but they are one and the same.

Download Target App

  • Download the Target app and create an account.
  • Once inside the app, scroll down to find “Target Circle Offers”.
  • From there, hit the large plus (+) icon on all of the deals you want at checkout. I love when I see deals like $5 off a $25 in-store purchase because thats money back in my pocket no matter what I buy.
  • After you hit the plus sign on an item, you’ll receive a confirmation page that says “Target Circle Offer Added.”
Target Circle

Right away I see $5 off a $25 purchase. Not bad!

2. How To Redeem

To Redeem all of these offers you’ve saved with Target Circle,
simply tap the wallet icon at the bottom of your screen and show the barcode to the cashier. If you’re at self check out, just scan the barcode code with the checkout gun.

Remember, you MUST take a bit of time to prepare before your trip to Target because these deals will not take effect in store unless you use Target Circle. It sounds shady but that’s why it’s called Target Circle. To get the insider deals, you have to be in the secret circle.

Target Circle Earnings

You know that message on the checkout screen that always asks for your phone number, but you’re in too much of a rush to bother with it? I see you! Well, even if you don’t use any coupons on that transaction, DEFINITELY add your phone number anyway so that you get 1% cash back on your purchase. Before you know it, all of those 1%s add up to cash money that can be redeemed whenever you’re ready.

While you’re in the wallet view of the Target app, you’ll see “Target Circle Earnings” and a little toggle button. When you’re ready to redeem that cash, just toggle on the savings. BEWARE: They expire after 1 year.

Buy Target Gift Cards Free or at a Discount

Look alive and be alert. You’ll find Target gift cards for free or at a discount within the circle app, the Target circular, or marked on certain merchandise within the store.

That’s right! You can earn $5 Target gift cards for free when you make an eligible purchase.

Insider Target Secrets

Now that you know the basics, let’s have some fun and start stacking up savings!

Target Secrets

1. Target Circle Allows Coupon Stacking!

This is HUGE! Do you know how many retailers refuse to allow customers to combine coupon offers? Target is super generous with their savings and they want us to save big. Do yourself a favor by presenting manufacturer’s coupons, offers from ibotta, and even your Target Red Card BEFORE you present your Target Circle savings. The cashier will scan your bar code AFTER all other offers have already been deducted.

2. Get The Target Red Card

I get it, the last thing you need is another piece of plastic in your purse or wallet. I get it, but I would not have done my job of writing this post on Target secrets if I don’t mention the Red Card. Let me explain it in one sentence. The Red Card is Target’s Debit or Credit Card that you apply for and get 5% off every time you use it in the store or online. Done! Apply here.

3. When To Look For Deals

Target drops new deals over the weekends and on Sundays in particular. Sunday is the best time to hit that + icon on your Target Circle Savings app and rack up your deals for the coming week. I like to sit in my car just before I enter the store and take a look through any last minute posts.

4. Target Circle Personalizes Your Deals

Over time, Target Circle learns your shopping patterns. It’s a little Sky Net-ish, but I’d let them scan my retina just to save a buck. Once they learn your shopping pattern, Target Circle will start pushing coupons and sales to you that you are likely to need and use. This means you’ll get beauty coupons if you’re always buying those items, or baby savings if you’re always buying diapers.

5. Scan for Deals in the Target App

Nothing gets by me! I like to double check whether or not an item I need has a discount without having to ask a store clerk. To do this, I just scan the item using the discover (Target bullseye) icon at the bottom of the screen, then open up the barcode scanner at the top. Scan away! You might get lucky.
