When I was growing up, my mom collected teapots and teacups. I always loved looking at them, with their different shapes and designs, the ones that were from foreign countries, the ones that were passed down from family members, and the ones that my mom found at antique stores. I really wanted to have a similar collection of my one day, but as I got older, I realized that my mom’s teapots and teacups really didn’t have any use. Sure, they were nice to look at, but all they did was sit there and collect dust. That is why I decided to only collect items that not only look nice on display, but that also serve some sort of purpose or function.
I was able to add to my collection with two beautiful handmade ceramic items from
Tivelasi Pottery, a Bulgarian company that makes and sells “functional pottery” – items that can be used everyday, such as serving plates, bowls, coffee mugs, teapots, salt and pepper shakers, beer mugs, and more! There are several different sizes, styles, and designs available, such as various flower designs, animals, or many vibrant and bright colorful designs. And since all of the items are handmade, they are each unique!
I received the
Handmade Ceramic Fruit Plate 9″ Daisy from the
Daisy Pottery collection. I love the bright red color with the black stripe and edges and the white and yellow daisies. The plate is the perfect size for serving snack foods or treats when we have company over, and I like how it has little “feet” on the bottom so it sits up a bit off of the table. When it is not in use, it looks great displayed on our living room bookshelf, and the colors really match our decor.
I also received the
Handmade Pottery Coffee Mug 6.7 oz. with dots and Yin and Yang from the
Yin and Yang Pottery collection. I thought about getting a mug from the Daisy Collection to match my plate, but I fell in love with this mug when I saw it. The style of the white background with black dots and black inside is simple, yet elegant, and it still looks great sitting next to the plate. However, I am a tea drinker, so this mug will definitely be used more than it is displayed!
All of the items from Tivelasi Pottery are hand-brushed with food-safe glazes, so I do not have to worry about eating food or drinking out of them. They are also dishwasher and microwave safe. I also thought the quality of the Tivelasi Pottery products was exceptional. Since they are ceramic, they are breakable so you need to be careful with them, but I don’t want something that I am afraid to touch for fear of it breaking apart in my hands. The Tivelasi Pottery items felt thick and sturdy to me, and that is important as I intend to use these items on a regular basis!
The
Handmade Ceramic Fruit Plate 9″ Daisy sells for $34.00, and the
Handmade Pottery Coffee Mug 6.7 oz. with dots and Yin and Yang sells for $14.00. I definitely recommend checking out these items and more from
Tivelasi Pottery. With so many items available, colors, designs, and sizes, you are sure to find something you will love. I would love to get a teapot for my mom to add to her collection – it is just a matter of deciding which one to buy!
