TOTSPOT APP REVIEW

Every now and then something comes along that makes me wish I still had small children. Or that a certain service had been available when my kids were little ones. Totspot is such a service (a free app), which lets moms shop and sell kids fashionable clothes and products, at quite a savings (up to 70% in fact!).

I remember well how incredibly expensive it is to buy clothes for babies and toddlers.  They just grow so fast, and sometimes they can only wear an outfit once or twice before they can no longer wear it. It seems like such a waste of money, but of course they do need clothes. When my kids were small (and I was a single parent with my son), I often traded in his clothes at a used baby clothes store.  It worked well at the time, especially because we didn’t have internet way back then.  I love the solution that is Totspot!

I have been having fun with this app even though I don’t have little ones anymore. I was asked to review* Totspot, and I have to say that I am very impressed. It is free (and super easy) to join and start shopping right away. When I first started browsing, I couldn’t believe how much selection there was. I kind of expected a few items, but oh my gosh, there are choices and more choices!  The Totspot app is very easy to navigate and find just what you are looking for.  When you find something you might want to purchase, you can “like” it to come back to it later, or to let the seller know you like their items.  If you like a particular seller’s style, you can choose to view all of their listings!

Some examples of items I found (to give you an idea of the savings) are a Baby Gap Jacket for only $5 (normally $30). Shipping costs are listed with each item, and some sellers offer discounted shipping when you buy more than one item from them.

How do you buy and sell on Totspot?

If you are a seller, you first list your item(s). Of course you will want to use the best photos you can – Totspot offers tips on this. Once your items sells, Totspot will send a prepaid shipping label to you. Once you receive the label, you will package up your item(s) in the right kind of mailer and take to the post office, or mailbox. A tracking number will be sent to the buyer so they can keep an eye out for their package.

Buying is really easy (and fun!). When you have chosen the item you want, simply click the “buy now” button and enter your payment information.

The nice part is that Totspot handles the money, after making sure the item has been delivered and that buyer has confirmed receipt. The money will be released to the seller when the transaction is complete and all parties are satisfied. I really like that Totspot handles the money. I think this is a much safer way to do business, than to count on sellers or buyers that might not be the most reliable (such as with other similar services).

When you are shopping and you click on an item you like, you will find details such as size, condition (new, used, etc), gender, price and savings!  I have found so many great brands available, at REALLY good prices. It is fun (and inexpensive) to stock up on clothes, and not have to feel guilty when your children grow out of them (knowing you didn’t spend an arm and a leg!). Also for each item, there is a comment section. You can read the comments, or add one of your own if you have a question for the seller.  It is an easy way to communicate and to make sure you have all the information you need before purchasing.

To help make your shopping experience even easier, you might choose to create a style profile by adding information about your little one (clothing size, shoe size, etc.) .

Want to see some of the best available choices?  Make sure you check out the Editor’s Picks! When you follow Totspot on Facebook, you will also find Editor’s Picks there.  Today in fact, there is a super cute boys Ralph Lauren trench!

With the holidays here, it is a perfect time to buy or sell holiday outfits from the comfort of your own home.  There are SO many neat things about Totspot, and I would love to list them all, but I really think you will enjoy browsing the site to see all that they have.   The photo below is an example of what a listing looks like.  And how cute is this jacket??

I found the Totspot app to be very easy to navigate, and it is fun to see the new items that are listed daily, and to follow your favorite sellers.  This service honestly makes me want grandkids…like now! THIS grandma will know the right place to shop, to buy brand name clothes for much less than the stores.

Make sure you follow @MyTotSpot on Twitter to keep up with the latest new, promotions & more!

You can find the Totspot app in the iTunes store and the !

  1. This is such a good way to get great deals on Kid’s clothes and if I want to make some money than I can sell my gently used clothes and make extra money which is always needed at my house.

  2. This is so helpful for parents to save on clothings for their children that has so much wear left only because they will grow out of them quickly.

  3. I love how simple this app is to use, awesome that you can make a profile for the stuff that suits your baby.

  4. This app is fantastic! I’m definitely going to pass this information along to my sister-in-law who has children and is always looking for bargains! Thanks for the information.

  5. I love this. This is great for parents of kids who outgrow their clothes fast. You want them to look good but it seems like you are spending tons of money on having to replace outgrown clothes so it would be nice to be able to use this.

  6. I will have to tell any mothers of young children that I know about this. I wish they had it when my children were young.

  7. this is a great idea – kids go through clothes so quickly, it would make me feel better to recoup some of the cost by selling

  8. I”m going to tell my sister about this, she’s got a bunch of clothes for girls she’s been wondering what to do with.

  9. I will pass this onto my daughter…she is forever selling and buying kids clothes for her daughter. she is so smart that she does this…saves a ton and is always on the lookout especially for “special” outfits and dress clothes…they are SO expensive and so seldom worn. This is a great idea but cant quite figure out the whole shipping thing. Id think it would get expensive shipping out items across the US? I guess it’s like ebay but for tots? Great idea!

  10. Does the person who receives the clothes have to notify the app once they receive the items or does the app follows all transactions through the post office to see when items have been delivered (since the seller does not get paid until all parties are satisfied)

  11. I have mainly size 10/12 clothes and up. Is this app only for smaller sizes or can it go up to size 16?
