I’m sure you have heard the buzz about Disney’s recent movie “TRON: Legacy”!  TRON: Legacy was released in theaters December 17th, and I have heard some pretty good things about it! I am hoping I can get my hubby to take my daughter and I to see it over the holiday break.  But the new movie isn’t the only exciting thing going on – there are video games too!  TRON: Evolution (video game) is set during the era between the two TRON movies, “TRON” (1983) and “TRON: Legacy”.

TRON: Evolution has a story set around a series of seismic events within the Grid of TRON. Players control a security program, Anon, who must protect the digital world from Abraxas, a dangerous computer virus. Players will witness unique moments that are referenced or shown as the backstory of the thrilling “TRON: Legacy” story. The game features the iconic TRON vehicles – light cycles, light tanks and recognizers – and has high mobility combat using light discs. The multiplayer modes enable up to 10 players to take on each other online in a variety of maps with on-foot combat, light cycles and light tanks.

TRON: Evolution is available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation3, Games For Windows – LIVE, PSP and the Nintendo DS. TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids is exclusive to the Wii™ console.

TRON: Evolution for PS3:
The PlayStation 3 system version includes a state-of-the-art stereoscopic 3D option for 3D-capable HDTVs and also supports the PlayStation®Move motion controller during light cycle gameplay in story mode.

TRON: Wii
TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids for Wii features 15 minigames for as many as four players in the same room. Families and younger players can experience the story mode and track their results in the competitive arcade-style combat games.

Pricing:

TRON: Evolution is rated T for Teen for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 system and has a suggested retail price of $59.99.

TRON: Evolution – Battle Grids, rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older, for Wii has a $49.99 suggested retail price.

TRON: Evolution games (E10+) for the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems and PSP system are $39.99. The Games For Windows – LIVE version (Teen) sells for $29.99.

A Collector’s Edition for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 is priced at $129.99 and features the game, an exclusive collectible illuminated light cycle model, protective case and vouchers for “TRON: Legacy” film tickets.

How fun does this sound?  I will be receiving a copy of  TRON: Evolution for PS3 and I cannot wait to play it with my daughter.  It looks really fun to me!  I think this would make an excellent holiday gift – and since it is available on so many gaming platforms, you can purchase it for just about anyone!

  248. I saw the original Tron when I was a wee boy in the early 80’s and was an instant convert. Bought many of the Tron video games over the years. I specifically set up 3D TV at home to be able to play the game. I still need a copy of PS3 Tron Evolution! I would love to have it. I saw the new movie yesterday in 3D IMAX and it rocks! What a treat.

  822. Tron was actually the first arcade game I ever played, way back in the ’80s, so it would be cool to have the Wii game to share with my kids. We just saw the Tron Legacy on IMAX last week and it was pretty great, although the original is still my fave!

  1028. I have personally not seen Tron Evolution (saw the original) but I did send my 11 year old and my dad (Grandpa) to see it together, they had a great time and said it was good.
