Like many people who seek out bathroom remodels, I had an old, builder’s grade tub and shower. It had a yellow tint and some unsightly dings. I have included before and after photos so you can get an idea of the beautiful work that was done by West Shore Home. It’s not my intention to add to the West Shore Home bad reviews online, but I have to share my experience. Here’s exactly what you can expect in my West Shore Home review.
My Shower Before and After
As you can see my shower was not disgusting, but it was certainly outdated. It had that yellow tint that made my bathroom feel dingy and tough to clean. There were also some dings in the walls of the shower that I just couldn’t accept anymore.
The fixtures were stainless steel, and although the tub was wide and deep, it was not inviting at all.
Nowadays many homeowners are opting out of the bathtub and builders are even building homes without a bathtub in the master bath. This is why I decided on ripping out the entire tub and installing a nice wide walk in shower.
Why I chose West Shore Home Charlotte
I was scrolling through facebook one day and ads for West Shore Home Charlotte popped up on my Facebook feed. This is a result of cookies that take my google search results and make them follow me all over the internet.
While on Facebook I noticed that the ad promised a lightning fast 1 day turn around for a bathroom remodel. The idea of having a new shower in just one day seemed very alluring.
The photos in the ad used spectacular before and after photos of bathrooms going from dingy to glitzy in a matter of ours! There was a button to contact them for a free in home estimate so I bit.
Within moments of adding my information and a phone number, someone was already reaching out to me to set up an appointment. I took the first available day and told myself, well it’s just a free estimate.
I was looking forward to the appointment for the following day and eager to find out the cost of such an amazing bathroom remodel.
At no time did I see the West Shore Home bad reviews on BBB. I read Google reviews instead which were pretty good. I mostly saw amazing West Shore Home photos and work they had done on Facebook.
My In Home Estimate by West Shore Home
The sales rep showed up on time to my home and was very polite. He used shoe covers before entering my house which is pretty standard in North Caroline. He asked to be shown the installation site and began taking measurements of my bathroom.
After he took the measurements, I invited him to sit at the dining table where we looked at samples of fixtures, shower walls, and the shower basin or floor.
I made my choices and decided to go with a bright white faux tile wall. I wanted something a bit more modern than subway tiles so my tile pattern is thin and staggered. Black fixtures are a gorgeous contrast to the bright white.
I have 2 shelves placed in the back of the shower and just one shelf in the front. They also installed 2 grab bars, but in hindsight I would have installed 3. One grab bar should be in both the entry and exit to the shower as well as along the longest wall to prevent slipping and injuries. You can choose to have your grab bar installed at an angle or horizontally. I chose to keep all of my lines clean and either vertical or horizontal.
After making all of my choices I was given an estimate of $16,000! The way they get you is by offering their finance options that allow you to have affordable monthly payments from $150 to $300 per month depending on your credit score and your install specifications.
For this price I could have gotten a new home, but I went along with it because I REALLY wanted a new shower installed right away and I didn’t want to put up any money. I put no money down and had 3 months before the payments kicked in.
The reality is that for the price of this simple shower install, I could have bought a rental property a made passive income. NEVER AGAIN!
The young man was in my home making his pitch for more than an hour and I was just ready to pull the trigger. He was also hitting on me half the time, so I just wanted him to go.
West Shore Home Install Day
My install was scheduled about 2 months out, so by the time install day arrived I was so eager to have a new West Shore Home Shower. Two guys showed up and were also very courteous and the main installer seemed extremely knowledgeable. Angel answered all of my questions and made me feel at ease.
I was in and out of the house running errands and I trusted them enough to allow them to start the work while I was out.
They laid down some protective coverings on my stairs and flooring and got to work. They carefully ripped out my raggedy tub and shower piece by piece without damaging anything! I was so thankful.
By the time I arrived back from shopping my shower was ripped out with studs exposed. It was scary but the installer assured me that everything was looking good and that there was no mold to take care of or water damage. From there the install went smoothly.
Finally, everything was installed and looked amazing, but the chemical smell was overwhelming. I opened the windows and turned on the exhaust fan to try to get the noxious fumes out as quickly as possible. I was told that the shower caulking and things needed to set for just 24 hours and that by tomorrow evening, I would be luxuriating in my bright new shower.
Is West Shore Home Expensive?
It has been 12 months and I have not had any issues with the shower, BUT…
The overall cost of a West Shore Home bath or West Shore Home shower is very expensive. It would be better to set aside money every month until you can afford a $5,000 to $8,000 install in cash.
The finance option with a low monthly payment makes it easy to say yes to this home remodel company, but the West Shore Home Average Price is well over $10,000.
West Shore Home Bathroom prices are a bad business deal, but as I mentioned before, I didn’t want to put down any money. I wanted the glossy new shower right away.
Overall, I am happy with the shower and the comfortable monthly payment, but in the long run I am not happy about the $16,000 I agreed to pay over the life of the loan. NEVER AGAIN! I could have bought a new house!

5 Things To Know Before Receiving A Home Improvement Estimate
- Define your project scope: Before seeking a home improvement estimate, it’s crucial to have a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish. Define the scope of your project, including the specific renovations or improvements you desire. This will help you communicate your needs effectively to contractors and ensure accurate estimates.
- Research and gather multiple estimates: It’s always recommended to obtain estimates from multiple contractors or service providers. Reach out to reputable professionals in your area who specialize in the type of home improvement you require. Obtaining multiple estimates will help you compare prices, evaluate the services offered, and identify any significant differences or outliers.
- Provide detailed information: When requesting an estimate, provide as much detail as possible about your project. The more specific and comprehensive your information is, the more accurate the estimate is likely to be. Include details such as the dimensions of the space, materials preferences, specific features or fixtures you want, and any other relevant information. This will enable contractors to provide a more precise estimate tailored to your needs.
- Verify credentials and reputation: Before finalizing a contractor, it’s essential to research their credentials and reputation. Check if they are licensed, insured, and have appropriate certifications for the work you require. Read online reviews, seek recommendations from friends or neighbors, and ask for references from the contractor. A reputable and experienced professional will provide confidence in the quality of their work and the accuracy of their estimate.
- Consider the full scope of costs: When reviewing estimates, it’s crucial to consider the full scope of costs involved in your home improvement project. Beyond the labor and materials, factor in any permits or inspections required, potential structural modifications, disposal of waste, and any additional services or fees. Ensure that the estimate covers all aspects of the project to avoid unexpected expenses or delays later on.
Remember, obtaining a home improvement estimate is just the first step. Take the time to evaluate and compare estimates carefully, ask questions to clarify any uncertainties, and choose a contractor that offers the best combination of quality, price, and reputation for your specific project.
One Day Installation
The main draw to West Shore home is their promise of the one day installation. I have to say that this was a key selling point for me. The idea of having contractors in my house for days on end was very unappealing.
For this reason, many people are willing to pay the prices West Shore Home is asking. If you want a one day install, you can have that with this company and others like it. It is very possible when using the prebuilt install packages.
The shower is installed in 4 major pieces. There are 3 shower walls, the shower basin, the fixtures, and the sliding doors of your choice. The walls and shower doors are caulked, so remeber to let them set for an additional 24 hours.
With all of this your shower is technically installed in 24 hours, but you must let the materials set for an additional day.
West Shore delivered on the one day install and arrived with everything I selected during the design consult. If you choose this home improvement company, you will have a clean, modern shower area for years to come. You’ll also have monthly payments for years to come as well.
Conclusion
Westshore home installers arrived on time for both the estimate appointment as well as the shower install. I was very satisfied with my home improvement project. Now I have a fun and inviting shower.
The sliding shower doors or glass doors have a modern look and feel and really helped to level up my bathroom. Overall I am very happy with the finished product, but I don’t feel good about the price. The customer service was stellar from start to finish.
West Shore Home offers many options for styles, patterns, fixtures and colors. You will have lots to choose from. My shower head is a rainfall style from Moen. They use quality brands for their installs.
I would recommend West Shore Home Charlotte only if you don’t have the money upfront. You also have to be ok with overpaying for this type of prebuilt install which is actually quite inexpensive to do.
