Working At Home: Strategies that will allow you to stay productive

The perk of being a work from home mom allows a mother to feel fulfilled in their career without having to miss a thing when it comes to the family. Cutting out a long commute with traffic can allow you to be at home for a few more hours a day. Filling these hours with work allows for a mother to spend time later in the day with her children. The lack of need to run out of the door in the morning can be very freeing to a mother that always feels like she is in a rush. The best thing to do is to assess where you can improve productivity and put a plan in place to do so. The following are strategies and tactics that will allow you to stay productive as well as retain the privilege of working from home.

Working At Home: Strategies that will allow you to stay productive

Start Early Before Anyone Else Is Up
For those mothers that from home that are self-employed have to understand the importance of getting as much done daily as possible. Earning as much money early in the day can allow for a mother to pick up the children without work hanging over their head. The importance of learning to save money at a young age is important when you work from home. The amount of work that you can get done with children is far different than what you can get done with children. Getting work done during odd hours can allow you to work during a time that is absent of distractions that are children related. Even something as simple as drinking a cup of coffee early and clearing emails can get the rest of your day set up for success.

Set Goals By Certain Hours For Tasks
Setting out what you want to get done by a certain time in the day is important. Being able to knock out your least favorite tasks early can give you a positive outlook for the rest of the day. You can feel a sense of accomplishment if you are far ahead of schedule for the day and reward yourself with a nice break to rejuvenate. The most important thing to remember is to set goals that are realistic to accomplish or you could come out of a day feeling down even though you finished the most work possible. Time yourself doing specific tasks so you can accurately set an agenda for the day rather than overestimating your optimum production levels.

Ban Children And Pets From Your Office
It might seem extreme but banning your children and pets from your home office is important. This will help you spend more time with them later as you will be able to do work without issue. Pets can be just as distracting if it is a dog or cat needs attention or is coming in asking for a treat. A solid door to the office can help reduce noise as asking everyone to be quiet during the summer simply is not going to happen. Your office should be a place where you can sit down and knock out work so design it as such.

As you can see you can be a mother as well as a productive employee when working from home. Retain your work from home privileges by showing your employer you get even more done at home than in the office!
