Shake Up Dessert with the YayLabs! Softshell Ice Cream Ball

ice cream ball in box

One of my all-time favorite childhood memories of summer has to be making homemade ice cream.  My dad would bring out this huge metal canister, add a few ingredients, and with such anticipation we all sat around and…. watched a metal hand stir the cream.  And it stirred.  And stirred.  And stirred some more!  I don’t know about your kids, but making a child wait for almost 30 minutes for ice cream has to be one of the more torturous things you can do.

Luckily, YayLabs! has thought of the perfect solution to such a problem.  The YayLabs! SoftShell Ice Cream Ball is both useful AND entertaining while your little ones wait for their delicious frozen treat.  The concept is simple:  put the ingredients into the ball and then let the kids play!  By rolling or shaking the ball, your children will be able to turn cream, sugar, and flavoring into delicious ice cream.

Making ice cream
I know for my little one, she enjoys helping in the kitchen.  Making ice cream with the YayLabs! SoftShell Ice Cream Ball is so simple, we basically let her do it all herself.  She mixed the ingredients, poured it into the ball, and with a little help from dad added the ice and rock salt to the other side and closed everything up.  After making sure the lids were on tight, we then went into the living room for some fun!

Baby ice cream ball
My kiddo loved making up different games to play while rolling the ball back and forth and the baby even got in on the fun, too!  After 25 minutes of playing (times will vary depending on the type of cream used) we were ready to eat our ice cream.

Ice cream ball
I have to say that the YayLabs! SoftShell Ice Cream Ball was a definite hit for our family.  The ball even included recipes for several different kinds of ice cream, as well as a few adults only beverage recipes.  This versatile product can also make frozen yogurt and fruit sorbet.  I have to say, I particularly love the aspect of knowing EXACTLY what is in the ice cream since we made it ourselves.  No crazy chemicals or dyes, just delicious ice cream.

  1. I have never made ice cream before so I would probably start with the easiest! whatever that is! vanilla maybe? not sure!

  2. I would attempt my best to make butter pecan, but would probably end up settling on just making vanilla until i figured it out, lol.

  3. I would make Vanilla…and then I would add a lot of toppings like caramel and hot fudge and real whipped cream!

  4. chocolate would be my pick but my kids say chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough so may have to throw some of that in ther etoo!
