I am amazed at how far we have come as far as optical frames are concerned. When I was fourteen, I learned that I needed glasses (this was in the early 80’s). Needless to say, I was not very happy. The frames available at that time were hideous, and I refused to wear them. Instead, I chose contact lenses.
These days it seems that people even wear glasses if they don’t need them, just because the frames look so good. It is really neat how the right pair of eyeglasses/frames can change the whole look of a face, just by changing the frame. If I were told that I needed glasses now, I wouldn’t be nearly as upset as I was when I was a teenager (I have since had corrective surgery). My daughter is “blessed” with my lousy vision, but she had a completely different reaction than I did as a teen. She had a blast trying on different frames, and found several that she liked.
