Powermat Portable Charging Station Review and Giveaway {$99 ARV}

Powermat portable charging station, portable chargers for multiple=

We are a family with an obscene amount of electronics. My husband and I each have an iPhone, I have an iPad, and myself and both kids have iPods too. Whew – I’m worn out just writing that! The problem with all of the electronics is finding a spot to charge each and everyone of them. When I first heard about the Powermat portable charging station, I was unsure exactly what it was and what it would do. Would it charge our electronic devices simultaneously? Would it really be easy? The answer is a big, emphatic YES!

No more tangled mess of cords or searching for the right adapter, simply place your enabled device on the Powermat to charge. Featuring a full range of wireless charging solutions for all your favorite devices, Powermat is compatible with iPhone, BlackBerry, MP3 players, cell phones, headsets, hand held electronic games, digital cameras, and GPS units. Whether you charge at home, at the office, on the road, or in all of these places, Powermat has a solution for you.

Powermat technology will revolutionize the way we charge.

Before I left for BlogHer, my husband suggested we set it up so that I could take it with me. This was a fabulous idea, as myself and one of my roommates both have iPhones, and she was bringing her iPod. My other roommate has a Blackberry. The Powermat portable charging station is pretty darned amazing. First I was impressed with how it folds up, and neatly tucks into a small box. Included are the mat, a receiver with 8 tips, and a power adapter:

When I saw the tips that were included with it, I was really excited. Not only could we charge our Apple products, but my friend would be able to charge her Blackberry too! I also received {which are sold separately}, the iPhone receiver, and the dock station.

We couldn’t wait to try this out. We set it on the counter, plugged it in, and played around with the attachments. We used the receiver on my iPhone, and the the doc for my husband’s iPhone. We then plugged in an ipod using the universal charger {it simply attaches with one of the eight tips included}. Of course, you could connect in any number of ways – there are lots of  possibilities with the Powermat!  After you connect your device to one of the attachments, just set it on the mat and you are all set!  You will know it is charging because you will hear a little buzz.

I took it to BlogHer, and my friends were impressed.  We set it up on the desk in the hotel room, and  found the right tips for our electronic devices.  We started charging our things and we were actually having fun doing it.  I cannot tell you what a relief it was to come back in our hotel room, completely exhausted, and to just be able to put our devices on the Powermat.  We didn’t have to scramble around finding electrical outlets {which was also great, as we had other appliances plugged into those!}.  I have no idea how we would have  managed without it.   The Powermat is ingenious.  In my opinion, it is a must-have for families on the go.  Parents and kids with phones and handheld video games will love the Powermat!

Here are some charging tips for you {videotaped at BlogHer!}

What I loved:

  • The cords on the adapter and on the universal receiver neatly wrap around the devices, and snap on.  There are no loose wires hanging around.
  • It folds up and fits into a compact container which makes it super easy for traveling.
  • The tips that are included for several different devices
  • Pretty much everything else about it!

What I didn’t like:

  • The only thing I would change/fix would be the receiver that fits on the iPhone. If the bottom and top are connected, it can be a little hard to open back up, as there is nothing to grasp. We found, however, that if we just left the top off we didn’t have this problem. We both have cases on our iPhones, and we personally wouldn’t be leaving the receiver on our phones, unless we are charging them.

The Powermat can be puchased online at the Powermat website {they also offer free ground shipping on orders over $50}, and at retailers such as Target, Best Buy, Staples and others.  Here is a coupon code for you!
