I have so much to tell you about the Blogher trip I have been on for the past six days. Where do I begin? I flew to Boston and stayed with Andrea overnight. She picked me up from the airport {after she had broken down on the highway}. We headed downtown, after we finally figured out where we were going (her GPS has some issues and we were going in circles – insert Chevy Chase here “look kids – Big Ben, Parliament”). We had a fabulous dinner at Legal Seafood and Andrea gave me a hard time because I don’t eat the clams in the clam chowder. Yes, I know I am strange, but it’s how I roll. We looked around at a few stores, and I admired the Atlantic Ocean. All my life, I have only seen the Pacific. Boston is absolutely gorgeous. I think I could spend a few days there just looking around.
We drove back to her house and I got to meet her darling daughters and her hubby, Marc. I felt so welcome, and was greeted with big hugs. She took me on a drive of her neighborhood the next morning. Look how beautiful it is!
I was utterly confused when I saw this sign {I have never seen this before, and wasn’t quite sure what it meant. Were they calling me fat?}:
Shortly after we got back to her house, our good friend Christine and her sweet daughter Sami (who so kindly offered to chauffeur us to NYC!) arrived to pick us up. We were so excited to meet them, and there were big hugs again – there are no words to describe how it felt to finally meet the very special friends that I have been talking with via Skype for nearly two years.
We laughed hysterically as we tried to fit our gigantic suitcases in Christine’s tiny trunk. Andrea’s sister worked so hard to get them in (I think each of us might have packed a few too many things – shocking I know!!). We finally headed out and arrived in NYC a few hours later. We checked into our room then grabbed a cab over to Little Italy, where we had an amazing dinner, and lots of laughs.
While wandering around Little Italy/Chinatown, I was fascinated by the all that was going around me. I have always wondered how New York City compares to San Francisco. They are quite different. First and foremost let’s talk humidity. There really are no words to describe how muggy the air was – picture being locked in a steamy bathroom for hours. It hit Christine and I especially hard since we are old farts (sorry Christine, but I know you feel the same). By the time we got back to the hotel, our feet were killing us. So much for the shoes that seemed so very comfortable at the beginning of the day!
We settled in for the night, after a few giggles, and slept soundly through the night. We did manage to get a few pictures with Christine, Sami and Sky, before we began our day out and about:
Stay tuned – there are more Blogher posts to come! In the meantime, don’t miss my Blogher 2010 Friends post!

Aww thank you! I miss mingling! I can’t find my Flip this morning. Not too happy about that. I will put up an impromptu post and you can link up. That way we will be all set for next week’s questions too 🙂

I love hearing every moment of these trips. This year I’ll live vicariously through your eyes!
Glad you’re all safe at home, how is Andreas car?

Thank you Rose! Her car is fine now but it was Speedy and Andrea’s not-so excellent adventure LOL. There will be lots and lots of posts!

It sounds like you had a great time. I’m so glad you all finally got to meet and I can’t wait until I can do the same! Love that “Thickly Settled” sign, lol. Indiana has weird ones like that too!

Thanks Mel! Yeah that one really baffled me LOL. I’m sure some of our signs look weird to you guys too (or maybe not 🙂

It looks like SO much fun! Your blogs makes me so jealous… in a good way! It’s just amazing to see people just enjoying what they do & meeting new people who enjoy the same thing!
Tammy
LOL. We have the same GPS. Mine kept trying to send us down the wrong way on a one way street. We drove around in circles for over an hour to find Caroline’s Comedy Club.

LOL – this GPS woman was nuts (she had no idea what she was doing lol). I enjoyed meeting you – thank you so much for stopping by!

Looks like you had a great time. I’m glad you got out and saw New York. I ended up in Times Square Saturday, no Sunday at 3 in the morning before I caught a taxi at 5 to get to the airport to fly home. Oh, it’s so good to be home!
Andrea
Boston is absolutely stunning isn’t it? You are more than welcome to come an visit it with me anytime. Thank goodness for good highway patrol I was able to get to you in time. Stupid tire. And that damn GPS girl, she was a dumb blonde.
Be thankful you aren’t here today the humidity is worse than any of the other days you visited. I can only hope some rain will come to help. If I go to BlogHer 11 I definitely will be packing MUCH less. I horribly over packed. I know that now.
For reference – Thickly Settled means that there are a lot of houses along that stretch so to go slow. Usually 30 MPH.

LOL thanks for clarifying about thickly settled. That was too funny. I am SO glad I am not there today with those humidity levels. I honestly don’t know how you stand it. The saving grace where you live is the countryside – absolutely gorgeous! I miss you!

You were in my neck of the woods! (Boston) Thickly settled just means a lot of homes close together and you need to go 30 miles or less 😉 It’s a Mass thing lol! So are rotories…did you see one of those? What did you think of the Boston tunnels?
ps. you should come way where we have lots of trees and mountains 😉 I live in a little town on the other side of the Mass Pike!
I am so glad we got to meet! Sorry I couldn’t talk long the Hub by was anxious to finally get my attention.
