Visa Gift Card and 10 Allie Finkle books

Meg Cabot Allie Finkle series

{CLOSED}
When my daughter was younger, she and I used to snuggle up and read, read, read. When she got older, she didn’t need my assistance reading, but she continues to be an avid reader – even now that she is 14 years old.  We used to purchase books and book sets at her school book fairs, and she couldn’t wait for them to arrive. I can’t help but think of how much she would have enjoyed author Meg Cabot’s Allie Finkle character

Allie is just a 9-year-old girl who’s just trying to make sense out of the 4th grade, so she jots down rules to help herself remember how to be a good sister, student, and friend – and also not to eat anything red. That’s a rule!

Meg Cabot Allie Finkle series

In Book 1: Moving Day, when Allie Finkle’s parents announce that the family is moving from their suburban split-level into an ancient Victorian house in town, Allie’s sure her life is over. With a new room she’s half-scared to go into, the burden of being the “new girl,” and her old friends all a half-hour car ride away, how will Allie ever learn to fit in? With Meg Cabot’s signature wit and amazing ability to channel girls, Allie is a winning character with real problems, lots of spunk, and is bound to be everyone’s favorite fourth grader.

How fun! I never had book parties with my daughter, but what a fabulous idea. I love that the Allie Finkle books are geared towards tweens, and now they can get together and start enjoying discussing books, while also hanging out for “girl” time. Get ready to start planning your own book party with your daughter! To help you with a book club party for your daughter and her friends, Scholastic has kindly offered one of my readers a pretty amazing prize pack!

  1. For my nieces party I think I would have a tea party/PJ party and we would make pizzas read aloud some great parts of the books and talk and maybe some book mark making too!!!
Hope to win, this would be great
    ja************@***oo.com

  2. I would serve snacks and wear costumes that were congruent with themes of the book. For instance, we had a Harry Potter themed party for my niece, and she and her friends dressed up like different characters from the novels. We served punch that we called “wizards brew”.

  3. Okay, a book party would have to include late night snacks (why are s’mores popping in my head-yum), our comfy PJ’s, either our big air mattress or we would curl up on my bed, and quite possibly include some activity to keep the boys out! LOL!

  4. I would plan an old-fashioned slumber party – a living room full of sleeping bags, giggling girls, movies, makeup and junk food. No cell phones/netbooks/laptops allowed.

  5. my daughter always loves picnics , so i think you could find a nice place outdoors to have some reading and some food and some fresh air, woudl be fun

  7. I am thinking an 80’s themed party to go along with the book club meeting. I would have some Jet’s pizza, soft drinks and have plain cupcakes on hand with plenty of items for the girls to create their own cupcake.

  8. I also have a niece that would love these books for her and her friends. I’m sure she would host a great party with the books, crafts, pizza, and snacks. karasceviour at hotmail dot com

  11. A book party! What a great idea! If we were to have a book party, I would plan some games based on the title, Moving Day. One game that pops into my head is to have a variety of items on a table (or floor) and have the girls memorize everything that is there. With the girls out of the room, I would put a few of those items in a suitcase, (moving day, suitcase, get it?) and the girls would have to guess “What’s In The Suitcase” from looking again at the items and deciding what is missing. Of course a party wouldn’t be complete without pizza and snacks.

  12. Oh now this sounds adorable! I’d just have to make vanilla cupcakes for this
with tons of vanilla buttercream frosting & some special pink daisies edible
flowers on them. Also we would make fabric bookmarks for everyone
and have treat bags, jewelry items and lots of fun1 barb g. directorylanesuperstore(AT)gmail.com

  13. i would plan a princess tea/book party.they would dress up like princesses and have a tea party while reading books

  21. i would make sure they had snacks and privacy from the rest of the family–my boys can be quite the distraction 🙂

  22. I would LOVE to have a PJ Book Party. I girls could wear their favorite PJ and talk about the things they would pack first if they were moving and who they would miss the most. They could make popcorn and eat lots of goodies. Maybe even read from Moving Day and talk about they favorite part of the book.

  23. I would serve pizza and snacks. Have a selection of DVDs to watch and goodie bags with the book included.

  24. She would handle the books and guests and I’d handle the rest – refreshments, decorating and table arrangements

  42. I would have cupcakes that they can decorate, I would actually do a reading sleepover party – so they would read. I would have goodie bags with bookmarks, pencils and fun little things, I would do a little game with the US map and have everyone mark where they would like to move, just fun little activities.

My daughter who is in 2nd grade is reading chapter books so this would be perfect (and I am sure my 11 year old will want to join in too!)

  43. I would give this to my niece and she would probably have a big slumber party wtih her friends, with pizza, chips, pop, fondue, movies and the books to read! It would be great !!

  50. we would have a dress up contest (like a character of the book), make your own pizza, and trivia (the girls can quiz each other on the book for prizes)

  51. For girls of this age, I would expect to have pizza snacks, cold drinks and some fruit and veggies with dips.

  52. MANDATORY ENTRY: For my daughter’s book party, I would plan HEALTHY snacks! A vegetable tray, a fruit tray, and some low sodium crackers. For a beverage, water would be on tap. I would introduce the idea of a sleep over book party, if the girls were interested. As for the reading material, my daughter has EVERY single Shel Silverstein book and what kid doesn’t like a Shel Silverstein book, right? I love him!!!!!! While reading a story I would ask the girls to act out the book, to add some spice to the reading! And for the last book party activity, I would ask the girls if they wanted to write a VERY short story that they create together!
    ki*******@***oo.com

    vlbsweeps at gmail dot com

  61. I would make gift bags for the girls, have a book sleepover/pizza party!

    chlorinebrain at sbcglobal dot net

  62. We’d have lots of snacks that I would name like characters from books we love like Chicken Soup with Rice. We’d have lots of fluffy pillows and sleeping bags because of course, it would be a book slumber party.

  69. For my daughter’s book party I would ensure there is proper lighting, comfortable chairs, pillows, good food, water, and an all around safe environment. Thank you. I am following, liking and subscribing.

  70. A book party would be so much fun! I would invite some of my daughters friends, plan for pizza and pop and maybe popcorn later. They could take turns reading the awesome books! What a blast!

Thank you for the great giveaway!!

  71. I’m sure we’d read a little, cook a little, and play some games.
    michelle (at) harrisbb (dotcom)

  72. I would have her pass out the books to her friends in class then set up a sleep over time and have her help me get ready for them coming over. Have her make her favorite no bake cookies and set up them up for a good tuime essentially.

    josephthesweeper at gmail dot com

  73. For the book party I would order pizza and make some nice goodie bags with book related goodies.

  74. It would definitely be a pizza, juice, popcorn and chips party. Definitely a sleepover wearing their funniest pajamas and/or socks. And get some nice bookmarks and maybe little bags to pass out as favors.

    1. Please delete the previous comment. I submitted the incorrect user name.

      Dugg the post (LuckyDuckyPeep).

  75. We wold have build-your-own-taco night, along with the lively book discussion. Thanks!

  76. We would have a sleep over with make your own pizzas then we would sit around and read out loud to each other and I would try to tie in snacks and small gifts to go with the theme of the book and have a great time.

  77. We would have a Pj Party, the girls would make their own personal pizza with all their favorite toppings. They would do each other’s make-up, I would have some girly crafts they could do, and we would take turs reading the book aloud!

  78. I voted on the fence 1
Oh yeah my pizza and snacks would not include anything red like in the book. sorry I didn’t right that part in my mandatory answer

  79. I would combine the book party with a sleepover – so when the girls (hopefully) get lost in the story there would be no rush of getting them home:

  80. id plan some board games like sorry maybe some crafting and some funny movies and of course reading 🙂

  81. I love the idea of a book party too. My daughters just started a new school this year so I think they’d really be interested in the story. We’d invite their friends, have some fun foods, talk about hpw they all liked the book and then do a craft related to it. They would totally love it!

  82. I’d plan games, make your own pizza & cupcakes and then watching a fun movie close to bed time. Then pancakes for breakfast.

  83. I think purchasing new jammies for the five girls (my tween and her four buds) and five new books would be a great idea. They’re all about the same size, so I’d have them in wrap or gift bags and we’d play the ‘snag it or keep it’ game we do at Christmas time (imagine the giggles).

Then we’d gather around the big glass window in the back room(gorgeous view) and commence reading once teeth were brushed and jammies were on. I think they’d love it and it would be a great idea.

  84. We would have a great bag made up for each girl. Sleeping bags and a great fire in the fireplace and lots of fun snacks.
