Ahhh – the weather is getting warmer, the flowers are blooming, and there is just that certain feeling in the air. I love this time of year – there is a spring in my step, a smile on my face and I know that good times are ahead. Summer is almost here! You know what that means, don’t you? Little League season is upon us! From the smell of freshly cut grass to the roar of the crowd, everybody loves Little League season, including Hilton HHonors!

In celebration of the season, Hilton Honors is doing something really fun! They have launched Hilton HHonors Little League Play of the Week, a video contest celebrating the excitement and achievements of Little League baseball and softball around the world.

Now you can take those proud parent moments and share them with the world. Make sure you keep your video camera or pocket sized camcorder handy, so you can capture those amazing plays!

Parents, coaches and fans can submit videos of their favorite plays from a Little League game to the “Play of the Week” tab at facebook.com/hiltonhhonors for a chance to win free nights at any hotel within the Hilton Worldwide portfolio. Not only can your family enjoy Little League season, but you just might get to take them on a fun-filled trip too, complete with a stay at a Hilton hotel.  I don’t think it gets much better than that!   I know I always have a blast when I stay at a Hilton hotel.  {If you win, feel free to take yours truly on your vacation too,   Just kidding!}

HOW TO ENTER
1. Fill out the contest entry form (on the Hilton HHonors Facebook page)
2. Upload a short video (2 minutes or less) of your Little Leaguer in action
3. Wait for your video to be approved (this can take up to 72 hours)
4. Weekly winners will be selected and announced each week to become Finalists
5. Grand, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prize winners will be selected by a panel of judges among the Top 20 videos, as determined by your votes

Weekly finalists will be selected and announced each week by a panel of judges and receive a guaranteed spot in the Top 20. Grand prizes will be selected by a panel of judges among the Top 20 videos, as determined by your votes. The prizing breakdown is as follows:

  3. Favorite thing about summer here in my household, is all the events. June is super busy we have Father’s Day, then My birthday, then hubs and my anniversary, then hubs birthday… I mean back to back 21, 22, and 23! So we have big cook outs like all week! Plus momma gets a break from schooling the kiddo and we can goto the park more.

  23. I like seeing the kids benefiting from the sunshine and exercise and learning sportsmanship.

  27. I love watching all the little kids in their first year of little league learning how to hit and catch, and of course picking flowers in the outfield.

When my nephew played little league ball, his grandparents would come to watch along with everyone in the family who could make it. It was like a mini family reunion every time there was a game. We would all sit and cheer for him of course, but we would also get to visit with each other and spend time together laughing and having a good time.

  141. My favorite thing about Little League games was always having that time carved out to be there in support of my son….of his activity (vs. him and his sister). It was a time devoted only to him (and the team obviously, but it was for him if that makes sense).

    Now, I’m going to get that same chance all over again with my nephew. It’s something I do and come out for him…not him and his sisters or older brother.

    I like giving the children a reminder that they alone are worthy of the time attention.

  213. My son is in instructional t-ball and it’s so much fun to watch the kids play ball just to have fun and not be too worried about whether a team wins or loses.

  224. Now that my son has been playing for a few years, it’s fun to see the kids work together and give each other tips or the “hey, pay attention” that in their younger years was given by only the coach. The look on the boys faces when they have a nice hit or catch is the best.

  282. OH DONT GET ME STARTED! LOL! My favorite part about the Little League (and my other kids ball season) is the comradderie the kids share AND also the parents of the teams. WE love the tournament season and traveling around, watching our kids and cheering for the wins AND the losses…because even then they learn life lessons. My son has met some great LIFER friends playing ball and they are now like brothers. They learn to BE there for each other on the field AND in other areas of life. The parents share this as well. The greatest sport on EARTH brings kids and families together! This year we are “down” one sport as my daughter graduates and is not in ball, but we still have a teen and tween. I know we wont lose our love for ball and will follow our GRANDKIDS seasons when our kids are done…even if it means driving two hours ONE way to cheer them on!

  299. Ahhhh, I love summer ball. I have a daughter so we do softball. We have been doing it for 11 years and it’s fantastic. So much fun. I love getting ready and going to the games as a family and then being an even bigger family when you get to the games and you cheer for the team together. I love the late night tournaments, the sunburn, the smell of bug spray, the early morning games when the grass is still wet with dew. I even love the stinky kids. Lol.

  312. My favorite thing about little league games..no matter the outcome of the game, win or lose, all the players have one goal after the final out….SNACK TIME! Those kids make a beeline to the snack bar, the volunteer parent, whoever is handing out the juice, sliced fruit and possibly hot dogs at the end of the game.

  313. My favorite thing about Little league games are the memories it brings back of my childhood. I was a cheerleader and my older brothers played , baseball, basketball, football, soccer, etc. My poor mom says she doesn’t remember her thirties she was so busy driving us all over, lol .

  363. I love the friends we don’t get to see often enough, the love of the game the kids have and the overall atmosphere of the ballfield. There’s nothing like being the first ones at the field before everything gets started when it’s all quiet and watchingand hearing the sounds as the people start arriving at the fields. Pure heaven.

  516. My favorite thing about summer leagues is the Field of Dreams tourney up in Cooperstown, NY. It just a beautiful setting and to see all the Little Leaguers getting so excited to be at the Baseball Hall of Fame and all their dreams of the big leagues.

  557. It’s a great environment for the kids. I can spend all day at the ball park eating hot dogs. It gets really competitive between the parents. I would rather spend a day watching my kids playing little league, than watch any world series.

  809. Honestly, my favorite thing is socializing with the other parents on the sidelines. Frankly my sons games tend to be kind of boring (lots of walked batters), but it is always good to hang out with the other parents and swap stories. It is also fun to see the kids interacting and having fun on the bench too, even when they are losing. Unfortunately my son’s Little League team mostly loses.

    But my real favorite thing about summertime is helping my kids learn to be creative with their downtime all on their own!

    Both my son and daughter played in Little League and my hubby helped to coach.
    First came T-Ball…what a delightful time. All the shenanigans the little ones do in the field, what a riot.
    Then came Minors and a little bit more serious play…the kids liked being a part of a team and making friends.
    My daughter then went into competitive softball and learned the joys of winning and the sorrows of losing.
    Little League let us spend time together as a family and let us meet lots of new friends too. It is well worth the time and effort!

  896. My favorite thing about summer is the summer fruits and veggies and Farmer Market visits… Strawberry festivities, and strawberries galore.. I love Strawberry short cake. Also Sweet sweet corn is in season! Corn CHowder, Corn Bread, COrn pizza I love it all. I love waking up early on the wknds and visiting the local Farmer’s Market to see what treats are in season. I also love that the days are longer and I can take long walks after dinner when the sun is setting too. Oh oh and the beach visits.. hehe what’s not to love about summer 🙂

  905. My favorite thing about summertime Little League games… is probably the memories I have of when I played as a kid. I remember knowing every MLB player and all of their stats… who had the most homeruns… who had the most strikeouts. Big League Chew is also something I miss from those days!

  928. Both of my daughters played tee-ball, coach pitch and softball growing up. Now that they are grown, I love going to watch my nephew play tee-ball. They six year olds are so excited when they get a hit and everyone in the stands yells for them to run. I also love it when they run with the ball instead of throwing it!

  996. I honestly don’t think that I have ever been to a Little League game. My kids were all into music, so we went to orchestra, jazz band, and vocal performances instead of sports events.

    When my kids were young, summer meant sleeping in, relaxed routines, playing in the back yard…with nothing fancier than a water hose, bubbles, a sand box, and a few toys.

  1113. Sadly my son does not play in little league, never has. My brother and I both played ball growing up and had a blast, but my son didn’t want to at all. Anyway, when I wasn’t playing in the game myself the snack bar was always my favorite thing – honestly 🙂

  1315. I love watching the young kids get into the sport-i remember fondly playing softball at that age. The game, the hot dogs, the water ice afterwards…its nice to see more kids enjoying it.

Watching the drama from over protective or over competitive parents. I could sit and eat popcorn and do just that all day. It’s a GAME people!

  1599. My favorite thing about it is the extra family time. Once the season is over, my teen daughter won’t leave her room before noon, my better half will be off playing golf, working on projects in the yard or around the house and my son will be out the door playing with his friends before I’m even on my second cup of coffee. But during little league season, we all get up and have breakfast together and spend the morning at the ball field – laughing, snacking and cheering on my son and his team. I know I’m not going to get many more years of that, so I try to enjoy it as much as possible while I still can.

She’s 10 and is just a very few feet away from having them go over the fence. I also love watching her work together with her friends. She’s made so many new friends while playing ball. Thank you!!

  1655. I don’t have any kids or nieces/nephews so I’ve never attended a little league game. When I played softball I loved meeting other kids and wearing a uniform.

  1673. I can tell you exactly what I love about little league games is the personal achievement you see in your children. As an example, my seven year old was so proud the during his first game. He was playing short stop and actually caught the fly ball. The look of excitement and shock on his face was a total “kodak” moment!
