I invited a few of my close friends over for them to watch the Al Roker “Child Hunger Ends Here” television special {that previously aired}. A couple of the friends I had over have kids in elementary school, and they are very active in the PTA and other functions at the school. I thought that they might have suggestions of ways to help and to see how they might encourage their own kids to spread the word.
I hope you have been following this wonderful program (Child Hunger Ends Here on Eighty MPH Mom) on my blog, and other blogs, as ConAgra and Feeding America are doing an incredible thing by donating and the time involved on feeding America’s hungry children. I would love to hear how you have been able to help, whether by text, entering codes from specially marked packages of ConAgra foods {with the Red Push Pin icon on them}. Or maybe you put food out for the mailman last Saturday for “Stamp out Hunger”. There really are so many ways to help. Make sure you keep your eye out for the push pins on ConAgra products such as Marie Callendar, Banquet, Kids Cuisine, Chef Boyardee, etc. when you are shopping. Simply enter the codes online when you get home, and that code will provide a meal to a hungry child.
But back to the viewing party. Even though I had seen the television special previously, I was once again touched by the stories of families who are struggling to make ends meet, and parents having to choose between paying bills, the rent, or feeding their children. I cannot even imagine having to make such a tough choice. Kids deserve a healthy meal to help them learn, and just to make sure their bodies are getting the nutrition they need and deserve. My friends were touched as well, and I don’t believe there was a dry eye in the room.

Go Grocery Shopping – From March through May 2011, ConAgra Foods will embark on its largest branded initiative to fight child hunger in the United States. Consumers can purchase select ConAgra Foods brands and, when they enter their code online, the company will donate one meal to Feeding America – up to 2.5 million meals this during the time period.* Visit www.childhungerendshere.com and enter the eight-digit purchase code found on specially marked packages.
Participating brands include: Banquet, Chef Boyardee, Healthy Choice, Fresh Mixers, Kid Cuisine, Marie Callender’s and Peter Pan.
Every code entered is another meal that ConAgra Foods will enable Feeding America to secure through local food banks. Codes on specially marked packages can be redeemed through August 2011.
Text to Donate – Consumers can make a financial contribution to Feeding America through a mobile giving campaign. Simply text “FEEDKIDS” to 50555 to make a $10 donation directly to Feeding America through June 30, 2011.

This is such an important issue to stop and think about. No child should be hungry or starving.
It is so important to be well nourished as a child because that is the main thing that keeps children/people healthy and immune to diseases. It affects persons future in all of the aspects of development.
This is a great cause and people should pay attention to it.
Moreover, it is important not to just give any kind of food to kids, but something that is well balanced and gives the nourishment that children need, to grow and stay healthy.

I purchased 3 different Banquet Fish Sticks meals, and the 8-digit code was the same on all 3.
No matter how many times I re-enter the code on the ChildHungerEndsHere site, I get the same “thanks for your donation” screen.
Are donations really made when someone enters these codes?
I am wondering the same….I bought some banquet pot pies (10) and all of the chicken pot pies had the same exact code on the boxes, all of the turkey ones had the same exact codes on the boxes…..
