I have never had plastic surgery. There – I said it. I have to admit, though, that I have given it some thought as the years are creeping up on me. It seems like all of a sudden certain things on my body aren’t where they used to be, new things have appeared, and other things, well, I just have no explanation for. My husband, bless his heart, says I don’t need a thing done – he likes me just the way I am, but I think we are always more critical of ourselves than others are of us.

One of my hesitations of having plastic surgery is that it might go horribly wrong. You can bet that if I ever decide to go the surgery route, that I will be thoroughly researching the doctor I choose. This is definitely not something to take lightly – it can be life altering in a good way or a bad way. I have seen so many celebrities going “under the knife” and many times, I think they look worse than they did before surgery. Then they have to go to another doctor to fix things up a bit (more surgery!).

What would I look for in a plastic surgeon?

There are several things. I would want to talk to past patients. I would search high and low online for reviews and personal experiences with a particular doctor. One thing that is really important to me with any surgery is how well the doctor cares for you after surgery. This was crucial for me when I had my neck surgery a couple of years ago. Bedside manner is important, and credentials should be checked out. One other thing I would be leery of is if you go in for consultation and feel that they are trying to sell you more than you need.

After reading about several SF Bay Area plastic surgeons, I discovered Dr. Mariotti, and I am impressed!  Dr. Eric Mariotti studied at University of California. He has board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and belongs to many plastic surgery societies. I am even MORE impressed to learn that he volunteered with Operation Hope in the Phillipines, with a group of doctors and nurses. They operated on children that were born with cleft lips and cleft palates. That alone says a lot about Dr. Mariotti.

After reading plenty of Yelp reviews of Dr. Mariotti, I have determined that he is definitely the first plastic surgeon I would have a consultation with. His patients seem to really love him and appear to be very happy with the work he has performed on them.
