We go through a lot of vacuums, since we have 3 indoor cats, and well…us. When it is time to vacuum the house, I need something with major strength and suction. The problem though, many times, is that vacuums with that kind of power are heavy and cumbersome.
Thank goodness for the Dyson Light Ball Multi Floor Bagless Upright vacuum! When I was asked to review it, I was absolutely delighted. We recently moved into a new home that is considerably larger than our previous house, and hauling the Dyson Light Ball around is no big deal at all. I can take it upstairs and back down with very little effort (which is very appreciated since I tend to be very careful with my neck since my neck surgery).
I am kind of embarrassed to admit this, but after using the Dyson Light Ball vacuum the very first time, I was a little disgusted with how much “stuff” was collected in the container. It was full, after just vacuuming upstairs. Now, in my defense, I have vacuumed up there, but unfortunately the vacuum I was using didn’t quite do the job sufficiently.
The Dyson Light Ball has great suction, which pulls up dirt, cat hair and even microscopic dust. What’s really neat is that it will self adjust across carpets and flat, wood floors, which brings me to my next point. Our downstairs is mostly hardwood flooring, but sweeping can be SUCH a chore in this huge house. It is a breeze to use the same vacuum I use on my rugs, for quick and easy cleaning. It actually self-adjusts to seal in suction when it goes across carpets and hard floors!
As if I need more to love, I don’t have to worry about pedals and a bunch of dials and doo-dads. The neat ball in the Dyson Light Ball vacuum, lets me get around furniture easily. This sucker turns on a dime – I was super excited when I discovered this. I was also thrilled that the wand is simple to use. It releases quickly without me fumbling around trying to get it out and back on the vacuum again. Here is a short video I made, showing how easily it maneuvers and how it twists and turns with ease.
It makes me feel good knowing that my husband and I (and friends and family that visit) are not breathing in harmful particles. That is because Dyson upright vacuums have whole-machine HEPA filtration, which captures over 99% of pollen, mold, and bacteria. It keeps these yucky things trapped in the bin.
I was curious how the Dyson Light Ball would work on my staircase. I pulled out the hose and was very impressed with how long it is! Just for reference, I have included a photo of my staircase below. I was able to get the hose to reach the top of my staircase! I left the vacuum at the bottom, and took the hose with me, with the brush attachment. It required very little effort on my part.
Everything is so easy to use in this vacuum – it is very well thought out for convenience and ease of use. The attachments sit neatly on the side of the vacuum, within easy reach.
If I had one complaint about the Dyson Light Ball, it would be that the brush that goes on the crevice device is really hard to get on and off. I imagine over time it will become easier as the ridge wears down a bit.
Here are a few other features of the Dyson Light Ball vacuum:
Radical Root Cyclone™ technology: Designed to maximize power. A mesh shroud helps separate large debris, with inner cyclones generating powerful centrifugal forces. Every angle of each airway is honed to ensure microscopic particles like pollen and mold are separated from the airflow.
~Testing: Dyson upright vacuums are subjected to 550 tests over 50,000 hours. During development a Dyson vacuum will be dropped onto a hard floor 5,318 times. It will run 847 miles on a turntable rig; the equivalent of being pushed from the Dyson Headquarters in Malmesbury, Wiltshire to Valencia, Spain.
~Maneuverability: In addition to the motor and filter, ducting, valves and the stand have been engineered into the ball, making it even easier to turn the tightest of corners.
~Hygienic bin emptying: Just push the button to release the dirt directly into the bin.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I most definitely give the Dyson Light Ball vacuum a 10. I cannot tell you enough how effortless it is to use, and what a fantastic job it does, picking up things that my other vacuum left behind.
BUY: The Dyson Light Ball vacuum has an ARV of $389 (which is a VERY reasonable price!), and comes with a 2 year parts and labor warranty. It can be purchased at Walmart and other retailers, as well as online.
I highly recommend the Dyson Light Ball Multi Floor Bagless Upright Vacuum!
That looks like one serious vacuum! I’d love to own a Dyson – they always get such wonderful reviews, I’m left with the impression that Dyson makes the best. That HEPA filtration is important to me, too, because we are all allergic here.
If I hadn’t just purchased a new vacuum, I’d for sure look into this one. I love all of the features and the fact that the suction is so powerful. Nice!
I have a Dyson that I’ve had for about 10 years. It still works great but it is rather heavy and cumbersome now that I’m older with a lot of health problems. I would love to have this version. They make great vacuums.
