When a new American Girl catalog arrives, you would think a puppy was stuffed in our mailbox. Luv gets *so* excited. So when she saw her first issue of American Girl Magazine she was thrilled! She immediately raced inside and plopped down in her reading nook and started thumbing through. She is like me when it comes to magazines; she thumbs through, then starts over and truly reads.

When she asked who sent the magazine to her, I explained that American Girl did and that I would be writing about each issue and the features she likes best.

In the July/August issue of American Girl Magazine, we found plenty of fun ideas for summer entertaining, games, and crafts. I love that even with a magazine dedicated exclusively for girls ages 8-12, my five year old can read and enjoy it as well.

Here are Luv’s top two favorite features in this issue:

Pack Your Bags:

This feature definitely left an impression on Luv and I even got some great tips from it! From folding techniques to help save precious space in your suitcase to helping with how to pack efficiently – it is helpful information that every girl could use.

Sunny Celebration:

This guide is packed with fun crafts, games, treats – even fashion ideas for throwing the Ultimate Summer Picnic Party! I know Luv would have a blast hosting this party this summer. She loves picnics and I think her friends would have a blast – especially playing Food Fight!

Luv’s thoughts as she read:

* Those hair styles are so funny. I like the pretty petals and crazy curls. I love the great eights best. I want you to do that to my hair, Momma.
* I want to do heart stamps on a skirt for me. And I want to do eraser polka dots on the pants and a scarf like this.
* When can I pack another bag to go camping? If I have the space I can pack a few extras. That’s what it says, so I want to do that. ~ Luv
