Each week my family unplugs from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. No work; just rest and spending time together. It’s our way to unwind and recharge after the week’s hustle. Aside from reading, one of my favorite things to do is put together a jigsaw puzzle. I’ve always found puzzles to be a relaxing hobby and Luv loves to help.
We recently were introduced to a local Seattle based company, Artifact Puzzles, that sells incredibly unique wooden puzzles.
Our puzzle artists design unique puzzle pieces for each image that add charm and challenge to the puzzle experience.
We laser-cut our puzzles just south of Seattle, using environmentally friendly plywood and archival soy-based inks.
I was sent the Mad Tea Party puzzle by Seattle artist Justin Hillgrove. While the artwork originally caught my eye, I fell in love with the details of the puzzle itself. The puzzle piece shapes are much more intricate than any puzzle I have seen before, including false edges, which made the puzzle more challenging and, well, puzzling! This puzzle in particular features several whimsical Alice in Wonderland pieces separately designed by Jimmy Farmer {another Seattle artist}. Imagine finding a place for a mad hatter, several tea pots and cups, a rabbit, a Cheshire Cat, and mushrooms. It was so fun to put together!
Such attention to detail really wowed both myself and my husband. In fact, after seeing my puzzle he browsed the Artifact Puzzle website himself looking at the selection. He wants to buy a few more to add to our puzzle collection.
There is a puzzle for just about every one! An Artifact Puzzle would make a fantastic gift this holiday season. Check out their Gift Guide. Plus, you’ll be buying a gift that is Made in the USA… and you can’t go wrong with that! Prices range from $18 to $100+, depending on the puzzle. Worth the price in my opinion, especially considering the quality, durability, detail, and artfulness of each puzzle.
Feel free to connect with Artifact Puzzles on Facebook and Twitter.

Coooool! I LOVE doing puzzles, especially at holiday time. I will take a look at these; the designs are unique!
Fantastic looking puzzles. It’s a fun way to spend time together.
They have quite the selection, I think my kids would like the Justin Hillgrove Creature Ladder design the best. Puzzles are great in the winter, especially for the cold-haters like myself!
I just love love love these!! I’d like to have several of theses and I think these would make very unique gifts. I’ve never seen these before so thanks bunches for introducing them!!!
