Race into a New Kind of Play with Automoblox

For those of you that are longtime readers here at Eighty MPH Mom, you’ll know that there’s a fun, quirky love for cars here. In my house, that adoration only doubles. You see, I have little boys and my life has become filled with all things car related. Whether we’re sprawled out across the living room floor zooming cars from one end of the room to the other, in the backyard racing with the kids’ battery powered cars, or if we’re attending a local car show or race event, our lives are filled with all things that go “vroom!” However, despite the kids’ toy collection being overrun with a vast array of wheeled playthings, it’s been hard to find any toy vehicle that can hold up to the rough and tumble play of little boys.

With so many of our past toy vehicles breaking, the only products that ever held up well to the wear and tear and crazy play of little boys is wood. Kids want bright, they want fun, and they want something that they can control. However, with many wooden toys being “just” wood, nothing every truly caught the kids’ attention. Thinking that I was on the losing end of this toy car fiasco, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with a fantastic brand. Now, when I mentioned Automoblox being just as educational as it is fun, I was actually quite pleasantly surprised to learn of this myself. Most toys are exactly that, just toys. Automoblox, however, goes above and beyond the basics of a simple toy vehicle. Let me further explain this for you.

First, there’s problem solving. Have you ever handed your child something like a block box where he or she has to figure out on their own which shapes go where or a puzzle where he or she has to put the pieces back together? That same idea pertains to the Automoblox vehicles as well.

Our child is encouraged to figure out novel ways to use Automoblox parts to produce vehicles of their own creation using their imagination. Visio-spatial processing is an important link in the processing of information and the ability to develop visual motor integration skills. They will begin to use skills such as rotation, integration, and see angles to accurately differentiate between shapes and how they can build and design their own cars.
