Winter always wreaks havoc on my hair. After several months of dry, cold, and windy weather, having to wear hats and hoods, and dealing with static and flyaways, I look forward to new beginnings in spring and everything coming to life again, including my hair. This year, I am going to use
Aveda haircare products to help repair the winter damage and get my hair back to looking great.
I had the chance to try three
Aveda products – Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair, Color Conserve Daily Color Protect, and Brilliant Spray On Shine. All of Aveda’s products are made with natural ingredients derived from plants and flowers, and it is nice knowing that I am not putting a lot of nasty chemicals on my hair, especially when I want to protect it.
The Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair and Color Conserve Daily Color Protect are leave-in conditioning treatments that you can use every day or as needed (all you need is a small amount!). I like to alternate which one I use each day because I need both the damage repair and color protect (as I just got my hair colored and want to keep it looking good as long as I can). The Brilliant Spray On Shine is a great way to finish up your hair, and I could not believe how it instantly made my hair shine! All you need to do is spray it on a dry washcloth and rub it over your hair. The first time I used it, I just kept staring at my hair in the mirror because of how shiny and healthy it looked.
Aveda has some great tips for keeping your hair looking great after dealing with the not-so-great weather these past few months, including using a humidifier to add much-needed moisture back into your hair, doing a final rinse on your hair in the shower with cold weather (this should be easier to do now that it is getting warmer out!), taking longer to dry your hair on a lower heat setting instead of using high heat to dry it quickly, conditioning your hair (either with a daily conditioner, a weekly deep conditioner, or a daily leave-in conditioner (like the Damage Remedy Daily Hair Repair or Color Conserve Daily Color Protect), and of course, finishing up with the Brilliant Spray On Shine.
