Bathing Baby with the Blooming Bath

Bathing Baby with the Blooming Bath

The sink bath seems to be a rite of passage for babies. When I was pregnant, I remember seeing the Blooming Bath around the blogosphere and absolutely wanted one for our second child. But considering Bugsy’s birth weight {10 lbs} and his size now, I honestly had my doubts as to how long we would use it. There is no set age or weight limit on the Blooming Bath though, so I decided to check it out.

Bathing Baby with the Blooming Bath

Bugsy has had his share of sink baths and he always seems so uncomfortable, despite laying a bath towel down to cushion his little tuchus. I placed the Blooming Bath in the sink, and drew his bath. After double checking the temperature, I nestled him in the flower.

True to Bugsy bath form, he squawked. Baths have always been met with tears. {I sincerely hope the folks at Blooming Bath don’t take this personal – ha!} But much to his chagrin, the boy must be cleaned!

For his next bath, we tried the Blooming Bath in our tub. Again, I laid the flower in the tub ran the water. This time the flower laid flat. Our bath has a shower door, which is awkward for baths as it is. And again, he squawked.

To better calm him, I precariously perched myself on the tub’s corner hopped in. Luv wanted to as well. Two clean kids, one bath? Works for me!

notice he isn’t crying in the bottom right picture! *phew*

After some soothing and playing, Bugsy seemed to actually enjoy a bath for once! I was relieved and Luv liked how cushy the Blooming Bath was. I suspect she will request it for all her baths now. I mean, what little girl wouldn’t want something pretty and soft to lay on while bathing? Considering Sissy’s request, I know our Blooming Bath will see plenty of use – well beyond baby!

Other Blooming Bath notables:
* Clean up is easy, I simply wring out what water I can and hang it {there is a handy hoop attached} up to dry. It can also be dried on low heat.
* All the leftover scrap material from making a Blooming Bath is used to create baby washcloths, minimizing waste in our landfills.
* The Blooming Bath does not hold water.
* Made with a super soft, plush polyester material, a high quality polyurethane foam, and a durable polyester mesh back.
* This may be common sense, but to ease my mind; please don’t leave your child unattended in the Blooming Bath!

    1. Rebecca, I apologize for the inconvenience. I edited the post to reflect the proper code. It is for a 10% discount: eightymph – and it is good through October 31st. I appreciate you letting me know!

  1. What a really great product to take a bath with. Also it looks so cute and I think keeps baby from falling over into the tub. The sounds like a product I would love to have!

  2. I wish that we would have known about these before having our son. He was always laying so awkwardly in the tub we got. It was also cold no matter what since it was hard plastic and he would be cold on the sling thing for newborns. I was always pouring water over him to try and keep him warm as much as possible and I could not fit the tub in the kitchen sink. The ONLY thing that worries me about the Blooming Bath is mold growing on/in it…

    1. We had a plastic baby tub with Luv and didn’t keep it after she outgrew it {which was quick}. That can’t be comfortable. I understand your concern about the mold, but if properly dried that shouldn’t be a problem. 🙂

  3. This looks so amazingly soft and perfect for newborn babies. I remember seeing it after my son was too big for one, but we have #2 on the way and I just might get a pretty pink one for her 🙂 Thanks!

  4. The yellow-colored Blooming Bath is adorable and sounds like it really comes in handy for bathing infants. Wish they had these around when my boys were babies.

  5. I have seen this before and they are too cute and I think they look quite comfy too! Heck I would not mind a little cushion under me when I take a bath! I sure hope that bath time goes a little “quieter” for you from now on!

  6. I liked your Bathing Baby with the Blooming Bath post.
I have never heard of this before but i think it’s a cute idea.
I’ll have to share this with my niece who just had her first child.

  7. I never really cared for sink bathing . Maybe if I’d would’ve had one of these it would’ve been easier It looks like its safer too and its so cute.

  8. I think these are really cool, way more comfy than those plastic ones that were vogue when my 14 year old was a tyke. I wonder if you have to wash it every time. You know how cloth and even those nifty bath poofs you wash with harbor mold. Does this one get smelly, or is it a pretty easy tend? Just curious, because it’s so stinking cute, it’d make a great baby shower gift!

  9. What a cute idea. It is not only adorable, but can help make baby bath time less of a trauma! Thanks for the great review.

  10. I wish I had known about these for my older two! they are so cute and would have helped so much with my son who was and still is small!

  11. This sounds like a great idea! My son didn’t mind baths in the sink, but now that he’s 17 months and in the tub he HATES it. He refuses to even sit down! I wonder if something like this would help?

  12. I really wanted one of these for my girl, when she was just born. They seem to be perfect for zink baths. Of course, we’ve now graduated to water play in the tub, but I still love how cozy and soft these are.

  13. i love this. i also would try using a towel to put at the bottom to make it soft and so they wouldn’t slip. this is such a great idea and it is cute and colorful.

  14. These are really adorable and look really comfy! I’m still a little concerned that they would be annoying do get dry, though.

  15. This looks like a great way to bathe little one! I want one. So much more practical than plastic tubs, and I love how versatile it is.

  16. These are so cute and lots of bright colors too. Keeps the baby safe from slipping. Would make a nice baby shower gift too. thanks for the pictures and info

  17. MY CHILD IS AN ADULT (!) SO I ENTER THESE CONTESTS IN THE HOPE OF WINNING SO I CAN DONATE TO A CHILDRENS CHARITY AT Christmas TIME.

  18. This is just a great idea and would make sink baths much more comfortable for baby. I like that the Blooming Bath does not hold water.

  19. having this would be awesome! I have bad knees (yes at 24 my knees are shot!) so this would be cool for bathing my 3 month old in the sink! Awesome!

  20. I’ve thought these were really cute when they first came out, then my 6-year old saw them and desperately wants one for her little sister since she can’t use them. Based on peer pressure, you might think one of these for older kids would be great too 🙂

  21. These are so adorable and such a good idea. I love the fact that it does not hold water and that I can wring it out and hang it to dry when I am done.

  22. What a fun and lovely product! I had the type of plastic baby tub you put on the kitchen counter, so my girls never actually did the sink bath proper. Still, it would have been nice to cushion the hard plastic with this bright, soft accessory.

  23. I heard a friend of mine say she wished she had that when her kids were babies. I’m giving one at the next baby shower I attend!

  24. I hadn’t heard of this product before. The product itself is very cute! It seems like it would definitely be worth trying, and I love that they use the material remnants to make washcloths!! Kudos to them for thinking about the environment!
