Campfire Rice Krispie Treat S’mores

May 22, 2014 by Jennifer 9 Comments

If you know the mad love I have for Rice Krispies, you probably won’t be surprised at the latest recipe I have created using this yummy cereal. My Festive Holiday Rice Krispie Treats were such a big hit, that I have been busy in the kitchen again. Bring the outdoors inside, with Campfire Rice Krispie Treat S’mores!

The nice thing about these is you can make a couple of batches to bring on a camping trip with you.  Of course, nothing is as good as the real thing, but these are pretty darned close.  You can snack on these during the day and enjoy the “real” ones at night!  These would also be a great addition to a backyard campout.

Ingredients:

  • 14 oz. Marshmallows (I use a bit more than the traditional recipe calls for)
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • 3 Whole Graham Crackers – crushed (set aside about a tablespoon)
  • 3 ounces Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar – I used about 2/3 of the XL bar (chopped into small pieces). Set a few pieces aside to sprinkle over the top of the finished product

Before you do anything, it is important to prep before getting involved in this recipe. I start by spraying a glass pan and the bottom of a large spoon with cooking spray, which makes it much easier to press down the mixture, without having it stick. Measure the Rice Krispies, crushed Graham Crackers and chocolate bar(s) and mix them all together in a large bowl.

Next combine the marshmallows and butter in a large bowl, and microwave for one minute. Stir and continue microwaving in 30 second increments until marshmallows are completely melted. Stir thoroughly and pour over cereal/graham cracker mixture. This is where you need strong arms – stir completely until cereal mixture is coated evenly and pour into greased glass pan. The chocolate will melt and…oh my.

Press down with the bottom of the greased spoon. Sprinkle with remaining graham cracker and chocolate pieces.

Oh.My.Gosh. These are delicious!! I doubt you’ll be able to stop at just one (unless your idea of a “piece” is half of the pan!). Enjoy! Oh and if you like this Campfire Rice Krispie Treat S’mores recipe, please share this post with your friends!

I’m sitting here wondering why I never thought of putting chocolate bits in Rice Krispie Treats… these look so good and I’ll definitely be making them as soon as I can grab the ingredients! Well, part of the ingredients… I always have Hershey bars in the house (shhhh, don’t tell, some of it is a private stash. hehe)

I haven’t had a Rice Krispie Treat in years, but this would definitely be one I’ll try.
