Campus Book Rentals – a great idea for saving money on textbooks!

Oh how I wish I knew about Campus Book Rentals sooner.  When my son attended Cal Poly a couple of years ago, it seems that everything was overwhelmingly expensive. The tuition was high, and we also had to purchase a meal plan. Then we remembered the textbooks and oh my, that hit the pocketbook pretty hard as well. After a couple of years, he decided that state college wasn’t for him, so he moved back home and is currently going to a junior college.

Great – that would be much cheaper! Once again, we were stunned to see how much textbooks cost, even though he wasn’t taking a full load of courses. I realize the books are needed, but it really seems wasteful since they are used once, basically. Unfortunately many teachers want a new edition every couple of years, which makes them obsolete quickly.

I mentioned Operation Smile above, but I wanted to share a little more information about this wonderful program. This organization performs life changing cleft lip surgeries on children whose families could not otherwise afford it.
