The joy and magic of the holidays is all too often followed by regret and dismay, as the credit card bills start arriving after the new year. It is all fun and games when folks get in the holiday spirit, and they often get carried away buying too many gifts and spending WAY too much money.
I know we all get caught up in the holiday hustle and bustle right this time of year (especially now that Thanksgiving is over), but from my experience, I just have to mention that you can’t lose sight of the big picture and your financial goals, no matter what time of the year it is. In fact, now is the perfect time to make a new year’s resolution to make financial changes in the upcoming year!
I don’t know if you have heard of Capital One 360’s Black Friday Sale, but I am excited to share this information with you!

What is Capital One 360’s Black Friday Sale all about?
Well, they are offering some pretty big savings to help you start off the new year on the right track financially. Some of these include referral bonuses, new account bonuses, and closing cost credits. If you have bought or sold a house before, I’m sure you know how expensive closing costs can be! Every bit helps, right?

Here are a few more deals you can take advantage of, during the Capital One Black Friday Sale:
~$1,250 off closing costs when you sign up for a loan during the sale period.
~$100 bonus with a new 360 checking account (minimum deposit of $500 and other restrictions apply)
~$100 bonus with new 360 savings account (minimum deposit of $1,000)
More to love about Capital One 360
I like that Capital One wants to help consumers keep on track with their finances, and the services they offer can definitely be beneficial. When you bank with Capital One, you can take advantage of many handy features designed to make your life simpler…and they are right at your fingertips! Not only are their products helpful in saving time and money, but Capital One is big on customer service and they are there to support you 24/7. Whether you are banking with a mobile app, or banking online, they are there to help.
I absolutely love that with Capital One 360 Checking & 360 Savings, you won’t be charged fees (and you can also earn interest!). Customers can use Capital One 360’s CheckMate tool which offers remote deposit capture. I think this is the neatest thing to come along since sliced bread (okay, I am old, but I was born AFTER sliced bread came around!). If you aren’t familiar with the remote deposit capture process, it goes like this: Instead of having to fill out a deposit slip, listing all of the check numbers, etc (incredibly time-consuming!), you simply scan your check and it will be sent electronically for deposit. Just think how much time this saves, not having to drive to the bank or ATM just to make a deposit!
After learning about the CheckMate tool, we just might have to make the switch, as our credit union doesn’t offer this invaluable feature, unfortunately.

What works for us financially
My husband and I have been together for many, many years and we rarely argue. Many couples tend to argue about finances, but since my husband and I are on the same page, we have learned over the years what works as far as spending wisely and saving steadily. I would like to share a few things that work for us, and that will hopefully help you set yourself up for financial success in 2015:
For the entire length of our marriage, my husband has had money from each check directly deposited into savings. In doing this, we never see the money and we got used to a smaller check, while watching our savings grow. We also never only pay the minimum payment amount on our credit cards. It is important to always pay more – even if it is only $10 or $20. Of course, paying those cards off as quickly as possible can save a lot of money too. Speaking of credit cards, we only have a couple of main ones – no store or gas cards. We eliminate high interest rates by not having these cards at all. This makes a huge difference – get rid of those store cards!
I really hope you will check out the Capital One 360 website to learn more about the Black Friday Sale and maybe start thinking about financial peace of mind during this holiday season. You can take advantage their products such as brokerage, banking and even mortgages. You can let a friend know about this fantastic sale and possibly even get a $40 referral fee if they sign up!
