Citizen Watch Company First Responder Watches

As you probably know, my husband was in law enforcement for almost 30 years. A few years back, I wrote a blog post about what it’s like to be a police officer’s wife, and reading that post again now pretty  much sums up why what I am writing about today is so special to me. I have purchased several police officer themed, personalized gifts for my husband over the years, and this year for Father’s Day, he is going to be swept off his feet when he opens the Citizen Watch Company’s First Responder Watch I got for him!

It does my heart good when I see a company honoring first responders, veterans, etc. I have always liked Citizen watches for their beauty and quality, but now I have a reason to love them even more.

Our Thin Blue Line Watch, produced in honor of our police officers, features an iconic Thin Blue Line across the dial, as well as a custom insignia on the engravable case back. Each watch comes with special packaging and gold-toned card that can be personalized with the officer’s name, rank, and badge number for a unique and memorable presentation.

Citizen Watch Co. First Responder WatchesHis career wasn’t always easy for us, or the kids, but law enforcement was something he was passionate about and naturally we wanted to support him.

When we were first married, I always worried that something would happen to him in the line of duty. Actually it wasn’t just when we were first married, but during his whole career that I had these worries {I express many of these feelings in the blog post linked above}. First responders are very, very special people. This is not a job that is for the faint of heart – they see so many heartbreaking things on duty. Things that will remain with them for a lifetime. But these same people somehow go back to work every day knowing that there is a possibility that they may witness more unpleasantness. They want to help…and they do.

As the years went by, I learned to trust that he would always do everything in his power to come home safely to his family, each and every day. I think knowing this in my heart, and knowing how good he was at his job, made it a little easier to put some of the worry aside. The last few years of his career, before his retirement, he was a captain and sat behind a desk most of the time. I loved this of course, after so many years of worrying. He didn’t like this position as much, however, as he missed being out on the street and doing what he loved most – helping people.

I’m sure you can see why the Citizen watch is so special to me! The gorgeous watch that I received had been carefully packaged, with a Thin Blue Line Watch box and a Thin Blue Line Watch Gold Tone Card, which included my husband’s name and badge number. I also had something special engraved on the inside of the watch. It says, “Always my hero – I love you”. I couldn’t get a good picture of that part of the watch to show you unfortunately.

Look how beautifully this gift set was packaged:

Impressive right? I think the fact that you don’t have to change batteries in this watch is incredible. It is always such a pain to do that! This Citizen watch is solar-powered, which will be especially handy for my husband.  A few years ago, he got a part time job for health insurance reasons. Since his job requires him to be outdoors most of the time,  his watch will always be charged! Another feature I really love is that it is water resistant (up to 200 meters).

Citizen Watch Company offers two types of first responder watches – one for firefighters (thin red line), and one for those in law enforcement (thin blue line). If you have a special firefighter in your life, you’ll want to check out the Citizen First responder firefighter watch!

I am chomping at the bit for Father’s Day to arrive, as I cannot wait to see my husband’s face when he opens this. My husband is going to be SO thrilled {and touched}, and my heart will overflow with love when I give him this gift that is so well deserved.

It’s not too late to order for Father’s Day! You can purchase these special edition Citizen first responder watches on the Citizen Watch Company website, and choose expedited shipping if you’d like it to arrive in time for the big day.  The normal price for these watches is $550, but currently the price is just $295. This is a great deal, and what a heartfelt way to honor that special someone who has put his/her life on the line to keep others safe, whether for Father’s Day, or just an every day gift to say, “thank you”.

  1. That’s a really nice watch. I like that it has the card with your husband’s name and badge number. I work as a 9-1-1 Dispatcher and have been doing it for almost 15 years. Thanks to your husband for his years of service.
