It’s important to me to use natural cleaning products in my home, not just for the humans in the household, but for our cats. In fact, since pets are more sensitive to chemical ingredients than humans are, making the switch was probably more beneficial to their health than our own! Of course, there was one product that I had trouble finding a suitable replacement for: Febreze.
When I decided to ditch conventional cleaning products, I started using linen sprays in place of Febreze. But then I learned that the essential oils contained in these sprays can also be harmful to animals. That’s why I was so excited to try Clean + Green Furniture Refresher (ARV $10.99). Rather than masking odors, Clean + Green products encapsulate the source of the odor, which then biodegrades naturally. And instead of being made with chemicals or essential oils, Clean + Green has a short list of all-natural, non-toxic ingredients.
We’ve been using enzyme cleaners for pet accidents (thankfully, we haven’t had one of those occur in a while–knock on wood!), but we have another problem in our household that I like to call kitty stank bum. I’m sure you cat owners know exactly what I’m talking about. Our little Miso has issues expressing his, ahem, glands and when the issues are acting up, he leaves a lovely little barnyard odor everywhere he goes. There’s no stain, mind you, just an awful, awful stench. The biggest test for any odor eliminating product is the aftermath of kitty stank bum.
After sniffing around Miso’s usual haunts, I found that the reading chair in our spare bedroom, where Miso likes to chill out during the day, was in dire need of refreshing. Either that or we’d have to haul it outside and burn it. And I’m not exactly sure if setting furniture ablaze in the courtyard is allowed by our apartment manager, so Clean + Green Furniture Refresher seemed to be the best option. I sprayed the area that smelled the worst–something I really love about Clean + Green is that the product sprays as a fine mist, unlike other furniture refreshers I’ve used. I made sure the stinky area was fairly damp and then I waited. By the time the area I treated was dry, the smell had faded, but hadn’t gone away entirely, so I tried again, spraying more generously this time. The second time definitely did the trick. Kitty stank bum had been defeated!
Since it’s spring cleaning time, I also went through and sprayed the cat furniture, pillows, and our couch. None of these were noticeably smelly, but it’s nice to refresh them now and then. I’m really pleased with the eco-friendliness of this product, as well as its ease of use. Seeing how well Clean + Green worked for me, I’m now eager to try their other products, especially their Litter Box Odor Eliminator. In fact, no matter what kind of pet you have and what kind of odor problem you’re dealing with, Clean + Green likely has a solution for you!

I have 3 rescue kitties and even tho I do not find ant great, strong odors, I do sometimes find some mustiness or stale odors on their beds and blankets.
Most can be washed but some can’t and this product would be useful. I could also use it between washings. Thanks for the great review.
