Quite a few times now when The Mister has gone to buy a bottle of wine, he sees a shopper staring at the bottles.You see, the mister {after trial and error} has a good handle on what wine he likes. He grabs a bottle, starts walking away, and notices the person, who seemed lost before, grabs the same wine he did. This just goes to show that navigating the wine aisle can leave you feeling in the dark about wine. Club W provides a spotlight.
Club W is an online wine club that guides you through the decision making process with their Palate Profile Quiz. Then you choose your selections for the month and wait till they arrive at your door!
The quiz includes simple questions from how you take your coffee to if you like earthy flavors…The Mister and I, as it turns out, are wine soul palate mates.
For our Club W experience, I chose two featured wines and one curator’s choice wine. Curator’s choice wines are the wines that really “wow” Club W Curators.
Just a few days before my wine was shipped out, I received a phone call from Club W to inform me that my order was shipping soon. They also reminded me to have someone over 21 home to sign for the delivery. I thought that was incredibly helpful!
2010 Shane Kline Wines Summerhouse Red Wine – From Sonoma Valley California {I chose this wine to see if we could find a merlot blend we liked}
The Mister’s thoughts:
“You need to let it breathe. I thought it was smooth and had a nice delicate finish. I would drink this wine again!”
Knowing the Summerhouse Red Wine is a blend of merlot and syrah, I went into my glass with an open mind. I don’t much care for merlots. But this wine was pleasant. Perhaps the syrah toned down the dryness of the merlot? I’m not savvy with wines enough to say for sure, but the end result is a fine glass of red.
Pizzolato Moscato – From Italy {I chose this because The Mister and I both love Moscato wine}
The Mister’s thoughts:
“I think the flavor is wonderful. It is sweet and light – and makes you want to pour another glass. I just wish it wasn’t so carbonated.”
{He likened it to champagne}
I, however, loved that even after the second night the Moscato was very effervecent. I especially love that the grapes used for this delicious wine are organically grown.
Curator’s Choice: 2008 Small Gully Mr. Black’s Concoction VP Shiraz – From Australia {I admit, I picked this one because I have a thing for Shiraz and I do judge a wine by its label}
The Mister’s thoughts:
“You also need to let this wine breathe. While it might be a dessert wine, it can easily be paired with a meat. It has a nice, long lasting finish.”
I was surprised at this Shiraz’s flavor. It is nothing like any Shiraz I’ve had in the past. Almost port-like, with each sip holding a berry flavor. I can see why this made it to the Curator’s Choice list. I’d buy it again in a heartbeat.
Club W is a fantastic idea for those who like to try out new wines! I thoroughly enjoyed being introduced to new wines and added some to our list of favorites. The Club W monthly experience starts at $39 {plus $6 flat rate shipping} for three featured bottles, but if you order 6 or more you get free shipping. A Club W experience would also be a fantastic gift for that wine enthusiast you know!
Feel free to connect with Club W to keep up to date with the latest featured wines and curator picks – Facebook, Twitter, and Vimeo.

We don’t drink here but thanks for the great review. Your photos also look great! Happy Week!
Could not be better to have wine come to your door:) We received this as a wedding gift and were so sad when it ended.
I love, love, love to have wine delivered! This year I actually sent wine to 3 different people and they raved about it – it’s my new go-to gift for those hard to shop for people. I’ll have to keep Club W in mind this year… Oh, and that Moscato looks delish!
Doesn’t it? I love Moscato!
I had never heard of this wine club. What a great way to try new and different wines. Sounds like fun!
It sounds like The Mister is quite the wine connoisseur! I secretly wish I was one of those wine people that knew which wines went good with meals or desserts or which you had to ‘let breath.’ I do quite enjoy wine even if I’m horrible at picking them out! LOL
This sounds like a service I’d be interested in giving a try 🙂
He’s definitely come a long way. I remember when he thought boxed wine was the bee’s knees 😉 Now? He daydreams of having his own wine cellar one day. LOL!
