I hate ironing. I just do. I remember when my husband and I were first married and I used to try to iron his uniforms for him, but would accidentally make two creases on the arms and legs. Well I call them accidents – he is not so sure. To make a long story short, he now irons his own uniforms or has them dry cleaned. Since he is now behind a desk though, many days he wears a dress shirt and slacks. He irons those at home, and it is pretty tedious.
I knew he would be thrilled to review the Conair Extreme Steam Hand Held Garment Steamer, as it sounded much simpler than ironing.
I didn’t know just how handy this would be! My husband and I both love it. He uses it on his dress clothes and I have tried it on several shirts that just needed a little “fixing”. It is wonderful to not have to pull out the iron, wait for it to heat and get the ironing board out, etc. I simply plug in the The Conair Extreme Steam Hand Held Garment Steamer and in a few seconds, I am ready to go. The steamer is lightweight and handheld, and it is super easy to set up and use. Clothing can even be steamed right on the hanger!
From the Conair site:
It’s great for soft fabrics that are difficult to press, such as jersey or chiffon, or tailored items that are challenging to iron, such as suits, jackets, etc. and it has dual temperature settings, unlike most other steamers. It’s a little workhorse than can go from freshening and deodorizing your clothes, to a wedding where you can steam the entire bridal party’s dresses in a matter of minutes! Just fill ExtremeSteam™ with tap water and in one minute, you’ll get 15 minutes of continuous steam. It comes with three attachments to easily handle all of your fabric challenges – a creaser attachment, a brush attachment to remove lint and hair, and a fabric attachment for delicate, fine fabrics. You can even use it to press and freshen your drapes, comforters and more.
My 22-year old son has been working feverishly on his portfolio for college. He is applying to art academies and is putting together a short, animated film. In doing this, he is using a HUGE backdrop (green screen, except his is blue), and when he pulled it out of the packaging he grumbled that it would take forever to iron. I ran and got the Conair Fabric Steamer and showed it to him. He attached the blue screen to his wall (which took up almost his whole wall). He steamed the fabric in no time at all, and was absolutely delighted. It would have taken him hours to iron the fabric, and it probably would have wrinkled again (the already ironed side) by the time he got to the other side.
The attachments that come with the steamer are really helpful too. Since we have three indoor cats (two of which are long haired), we often have a coat of fur on our clothing. The brush attachment makes it easy to remove unwanted fur. Since we are not cats, the fur is definitely unwanted 🙂
You can watch the Conair Extreme Steam Hand Held Garment Steamer video, to see it in action.
This has quickly become one of our favorite products. It is something I probably would have not even thought about buying, but let me tell you, we would not want to be without it now that we have tried it!
The Conair Extreme Steam Hand Held Garment Steamer is has an ARV of $49.99 and can be purchased on the Conair website and at other retailers.

Looks like a great product. I have a steamer I’m only so-so about now. I despise ironing, so much so that I gave my iron away to Goodwill and make the hubby launder his dress shirts with the cleaners. But I still need a steamer to touch up pants and dresses I wash at home.
I’ve seen this type of product a lot on the internet and tv lately and I’ve always wondered that infamous question: “Does it REALLY work?” I guess you answered my question! 🙂
I love hand steamers and it is one of my favorite innovation as well. I remembered how I used to spend hours on ironing my shirts and ended up having multiple creases on the sleeves – similar to an airport runway!
