I’ve Got My Sights Set On the Dart Zone Covert Ops Adventure Force Light Command Blaster

*Please note that although this toys is for ages 8+, Eighty MPH Mom recommends that an adult be present when this toy is used.

Every year before Christmas, my kids settle down at the table with a sheet of paper, and an assortment of crayons laid out in front of them. They doodle, and they draw, and they write their Christmas wish lists.   My son’s list this year had everything I would normally expect, save one thing.  It had action figures, a bike, comic book hero costumes, movies, and there at the bottom of the list was something I had not seen before.  He wanted a water gun.  I could not help but wonder, would he use it?  I see him dress up and act out all sorts of adventures, but it’s December.  It’s cold out, and it is NOT water gun weather. So I had a problem. I could either get him the water guns, and pray they don’t break, or I can find an alternative.

I was watching him play one day, and it hit me.  Well, actually, it hit HIM.  My older daughter popped out of the closet with her foam tipped bow in hand, and she shot square in the back with one of her arrows.  He spun around and pretended to shoot back, but he was unarmed.  So when Dart Zone Covert Ops offered up a few toys for review, my mind was made for me.  I was going to give him the means to defend himself.

First off, Dart Zone Covert Ops has a wide array of options.  It’s very important to pick out the right weapon for the right job.  If your kid needs to get up close and personal, they have smaller handheld Phantom Blasters.  They have shotgun style, pump action blasters.  They have blasters that shoot three foam darts at a time.  They have guns that shoot out little balls.  They have battery operated guns, and they even have some that light up!  Their whole line is sure to amaze your child!  That even includes the older ones that go by the name of Daddy!

One of the weapons I selected was the Dart Zone Covert Ops Quatroblast Superflip Drum Blaster.  It’s a good blaster, without the bells and whistles.  In other words, you only have to worry about your own skills.  You’re not relying on batteries, or lights, or anything to get you through the fight.  You preload the four drums with six darts a piece, and you’re ready to hunt down your opponents!  As each shot fires, the blaster auto advances the next one into the firing chamber, and you can keep up the cover fire.  The darts themselves travel up to 90 feet!  It covers quite a bit of ground!

The next one I wanted to have in his armory was the Dart Zone Covert Ops Adventure Force Light Command Blaster. I’m sure this blaster would thrill everyone.  Instead of a drum feed, you load the darts into a belt. The belt rotates through the gun as each dart fires, but this one is a little different than the Quatroblast.  Ok, it’s a lot different.  For starters, it requires some batteries.  If you add two AAA batteries into the mix, it will light up when the trigger is pulled.  When you add in the full six AA batteries, you have fully automatic capability.  What’s the difference?  A regular blaster will shoot on dart for every trigger pull.  This one empties the whole belt in under 20 seconds. That’s a lot of darts flying at your opponent.  It’s perfect for the last minute charge into their fortress!  The darts travel approximately 80 feet, and if you have multiple belts at your disposal, you can definitely wreak some havoc!

The last one I picked out was the Dart Zone Covert Ops Dartstorm Belt Blaster. Like the Light Command, this one requires six AA batteries. This one has twice the capacity of the Light Command however, and has a similar rate of fire.  So imagine 40 darts flying through the air. It’s the ultimate “pin your opponent to the ground, take their flag, and win the day” blaster. They can reach over 90 feet, and will give your team ample time to reload, or you can pull off your favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger pose and lay down the hammer, cackling as you cover your opponent in foam!  It’s perfect!

All three blasters work with majority of darts on the market, so hunting down ammunition isn’t tough.  Dart Zone Covert Ops has you covered, and you can find them at Walmart!
