Comfortable Clothing for Moms-to-Be & Kids at Finside

Here we go again, I’m having another baby! Obviously, having a baby is a beautiful thing…but it’s costly. There are the costs that everyone anticipates, like the baby clothes and the crib, but then there are those that no one thinks about…MY clothes! My weight has fluctuated so much between being pregnant, then nursing and getting thin. Wardrobe costs are really hitting my bank account hard. Clothing for my big belly, easy access to nursing, and then the drop in size after all is said and done. I received the Kerttuli trenchjacket, along with the zip-in belly extension, Kylli, and the Kukka, a zip-in baby extension! Our fifth little blessing is going to be born in December, which where I live means that it will be cool, breezy, and often snowing. I chose the Kerttuli trenchjacket because it’s windproof and waterproof, and let’s be honest, it looks super-cozy with lots of coverage! The hood is removable but contoured so that it will stay in place through windy weather. You can adjust it from the inside to make it a little more snug at the waist, if you like. The pockets are large and can be snapped shut, they can fit a diaper and one of my wipes packages or, you know, my wallet.

Another thing that drew my attention to the Kerttuli by Finside was the attachments that it could be integrated with. The Inkeri is a standalone “blousonjacket” that can be zipped inside of the Kerttuli for extra comfort and padding, which seemed like a great way to go from season to season. The Kylli and Kukka that I received, were perfect for the moms and moms to be such as myself! The Kylli is meant to accommodate the large pregnant belly so that you can still wear your comfy Kerttuli jacket but you’ll actually be able to fit in it! I can’t count the number of times I either wore unzipped coats or no coat at all and froze my tush off during my fall and winter pregnancies! Since I’m only four months along and not that big yet, I used a pillow to demonstrate this one for you:

The Kukka is the zip-in baby extension and you’re probably wondering what exactly that means. No, it’s not a detachable sidecar for your new little one, but it’s even better! We’re babywearers in my house, so our children and especially the new babies, are often worn in a carrier on Mommy. The Kukka is a way that your child can get the same weather protection you’re getting from your Kerttuli jacket, while you wear them! The same waterproof material that’s keeping you dry and shielded from the wind is surrounding your baby in a snug pocket with a hood covering his or her head.
