With October being SIDS awareness month, HALO SleepSack actively spreads awareness because SIDS was the driving force for this company to even start! During the month of October, HALO will donate $1 to SIDS Awareness for every new Facebook “like”. That is huge!!
We love HALO SleepSack, so I was happy to share some of HALO’s sleep safe tips with you.
Sleep Safe Practices by HALO
Did you know that 80-90% of SIDS-related deaths are due to unsafe sleep practices?
ALWAYS:
Place baby to sleep on his or her back at naptime and at night time. Use a crib that meets current safety standards with a firm mattress that fits snuggly and is covered with only a tight-fitting crib sheet. Remove all soft bedding and toys from your baby’s sleep area (this includes loose blankets, bumpers, pillows and positioners). The American Academy of Pediatrics suggests using a wearable blanket instead of loose blankets to keep your baby warm. Offer a pacifier when putting baby to sleep. If breastfeeding, introduce pacifier after one month or after breastfeeding has been established. Breastfeed, if possible, but when finished, put your baby back to sleep in his or her separate safe sleep area alongside your bed. NEVER:
Never put your baby to sleep on any soft surface. Never dress your baby too warmly for sleep; keep room temperature 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. Never allow anyone to smoke around your baby or take your baby into a room or car where someone has recently smoked.
Like in every other facet of parenting, I strongly believe every family should make informed decisions and do what they feel is best for their child/family. HALO’s sleep safe tips are a fantastic starting point! I’d also recommend talking with your child’s doctor {beit a pediatrician, family doctor, or ND} if you have any questions. As I said earlier, Bugsy sleeps in his HALO SleepSacks and we love them. But anyone that knows our family also knows that we co-sleep. When I am graced with nap time When Bugsy naps, he sleeps on a crib mattress {on the floor so he can chase after Sissy immediately after waking up}. That is what works for our family.
With the chilly months upon us, HALO has several new Micro-Fleece designs! Along with the infant SleepSack, HALO offers products that grow with your baby. Like the Early Walker SleepSack. Once Bugsy started walking two months ago, he began to “voice his concern”. He’d wake, immediately raring to go, though still wobbly as he shakes the sleepiness, he’d fall. And squawk. Since he has been waking up in his new Robot Early Walker SleepSack, he has been a happy little boy! And I absolutely love the design!
He is kept warm in this Micro-Fleece wearable blanket, as the feet easily slip up into the SleepSack to keep his piggies warm. But come morning, Bugsy is able to toddle about, too! The Early Walker SleepSack has the same features I loved about his infant SleepSacks; the upside down zipper for easier diaper changes, sleeveless arms to better control the temperature, and he cannot kick the blanket off.
