#Hasbro Keeps The Family Playing Together with These Great Toys! – Review

The holiday season is over and you’ve got all of these great gift cards to spend! If you’re not quite sure what to get or help the kids pick out, I’ve received some great toys for review from Hasbro that might just help you decide!

Let me begin with my favorite of these toys, the My Little Pony Friendship Rainbow Kingdom Playset. I used to love My Little Pony as a kid so the fact that my kids can enjoy something from my past is actually adorable to me and I can relate to it! This three-level castle comes with a beautiful Princess Twilight Sparkle pony who can ride her little cloud car down the spiral slide or on the swing below the balcony.

It has a wardrobe, vanity, book, and treasure chest that you can unlock with the little key and put small accessories in it. The kids absolutely love it and we already have a huge collection of My Little Pony figures so all of my kids swamped the toy within minutes! They take turns swinging their ponies on the swing and sending them flying down the slide. I love the detail on this toy, to include little flags and a chandelier. Locking up the treasures like the little tiara, shoes, and ring is a cute feature that the kids (and I!) are really enjoying. The My Little Pony Friendship Rainbow Kingdom Playset retails for $39.99.

Being a game night family that loves to play games at parties or every Friday night for our Family Night, the Taboo game we received totally appeals to me. This game is a classic! You have to get your partner to guess the particular word but you can’t say any of the words that are on the screen and if you do, you get buzzed. Taboo has more than 1,000 words and it keeps score (thank you, Taboo, I’m tired of being scorekeeper!) and the team with the most points wins! Simple and yet a blast for hours! I can’t get any action shots of this one because, well, if you knew my family’s competitive side, you’d understand! The only thing that really matters here is my husband and I beat my mom and stepdad at our family dinner, okay? Taboo retails at $19.99.

The Star Wars Rebels Inquisitor Lightsaber is one toy that the kids are sharing but we parents love to make it into two lightsabers and duel each other, too! My husband is playing “Star Wars” with my son right now and it’s so funny to hear them making the lightsaber sounds at each other, watching him disarm my son and my son run over to pick up his lightsaber!

You can take one of the blades in each hand or add the second to create a long double-blade lightsaber like the Inquistor from the new Star Wars Rebels animated series. You can throw the force disc too, and this attack is quiet fun but I highly recommend it for outdoor battles (haha)! As I type this, my husband is tossing it at me while he battles my son in the other hand! I’d say this toy is a hit over here! The Star Wars Rebel Inquisitor Lightsaber retails for $29.99.

The Playskool Stack ‘N Spin Monkey Gears toy is so adorable. The kids can stack up the colorful gears by the monkey, changing up where each one is placed. After every gear is in place, you push the button in the middle to watch them all spin, light up, and play monkey music! It teaches my littlest guy how to build and rewards him with such a fun array of music, colorful illumination, hopefully his first of many steps toward an engineering career! When he’s holding each gear, I tell him what color he has just to help build even more skill. What an adorable toy and is recommended for ages 9 and up! The Playskool Stack ‘N Spin Monkey Gears toy retails for $19.99.

We also received the Disney Princess Magical Designs Palace Playset by the Play-DOH brand and I knew this one would be a hit. It comes with Princess Aurora, whose dress is interchangeable and can make neat designs! There are cool molds all over the castle and balcony, like the three fairies from Sleeping Beauty and you can buy other dolls and playsets to change it out with.

It includes Aurora’s two dresses, a birthday cake mold, rollers, and four 2 oz cans of Play-DOH, to include the sparkly ones my kids were flipping out over. This was our introduction to Play-DOH so my husband actually went out and bought six more cans of Play-DOH so all four of my kiddos could make fabulous creations. I definitely foresee us continuing to expand the set, considering how much my girls love Princesses and how many things you can do with the set. The Disney Princess Magical Designs Palace Playset retails for $19.99.

  1. My 5-year-old daughter goes gaga for anything with My Little Pony (I think she can name them all) or Disney Princess (I KNOW she knows all of these).
    Thanks!

  2. My Little Pony was my favorite as a child. I love the gears, too. I want to get this for our next little one, whenever he or she may come.

  3. Hasbro is so awesome! Always has been. LOVE the MLP set. Also, that monkey, adorable with all the colors. Makes me wish my siblings would start having some more babies. (I’ve already got 18 nieces and nephews)…luckily some of them are old enough to start having kids now. YAY!!! Spoiling auntie time again.
