One of my favorite things to do when my kids were little is crafts. I always had a big bin full of buttons, glue, glitter, foam cut-outs, construction paper, little plastic eyes. You name it – we had it! They were honestly some of the best times of my life, and the ultimate in quality time.
Back then, my kids and I had to drive about 15 minutes from home to find a craft store that had everything we were looking for (and that’s probably the reason I had such a huge stash – so we didn’t have to go out each time we wanted to get creative!). Of course, in my defense, we did not have internet when my kids were little. I realize I’m showing my age here, but the thought of being able to purchase crafty-type stuff online sounds dreamy.
I was recently looking around for arts & crafts supplies online, (not to do projects with my grown kids lol), but for ideas for the new retirement home my husband and I just put an offer on. I can’t wait to decorate, and I needed some inspiration. I definitely found it recently when I discovered an online retailer (Factory Direct Craft) with a huge amount of affordable craft supplies (good to know for when I have grandchildren too!). I am looking forward to making some of my own decor for our new home, and I might even take up candle making or floral arrangements.
The website I found is really neat – they have just about everything imaginable from kids craft supplies to home decor, party items, candle and soap making supplies, how-to books and much, much more. I have it bookmarked for future reference too.
Yes, I am feeling the urge to be crafty again. And when those grandkids come along, this grandma will be set!

We love doing crafts, they are so much fun! So you guys are purchasing a home for when you retire, not going into a retirement home ? I’m a little slow lol.
Great find. I’ll definitely be checking them out for future holidays. You know I love to craft with Charlie!! She has so much fun crafting 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
We have a “craft bin” with just about every craft project item you can imagine, too. My kids are still little enough that I can do crafts with them, but I know I’ll miss it someday. I just love how proud they are when they finish making their craft 🙂
I love this site! They have so many amazing crafting options!
You and my mom sound like one in the same! When my sister and I were little, we always were doing something creative and crafty, courtesy of my mom 🙂
I think that’s why we both grew up with a love for art and crafts.
